The owners and staff at this hotel are delightful, so kind, helpful and accommodating. The female chef is utterly charming. Every bedroom is beautiful appointed, with stunning views. The pool and setting are a haven of relaxation. Everything about our stay was absolutely perfect.

The staff were warm and welcoming. The location was absolutely beautiful and from our terrace we could enjoy views of the medieval city. The only complaint I had was no bar or restaurant service after breakfast. The pool are and hot tub were nice amenities.

The day I arrived, I had lunch, a simple Salad Payssane, which was fine until my in one of my last bites there was a tiny pebble in my salad!!! I felt a hard crunch and immediately feared I had lost a filling or broke a tooth, only to find I had bitten a little piece of gravel! I mentioned it to the waitress, and she asked if I had broken my tooth on it and I said no. That was a good enough answer for her, and she said then it's all good. I mentioned the same to the front desk, and was told the owners would be informed. The next morning I had some confusion over breakfast, which seems to be my misunderstanding of French. There was a choice of continental breakfast, or a whole buffet. I only wanted the continental, but when I asked for a second cup of coffee, I was told it only came with one cup. She may have said that the second cup would cost extra, but she said two or three times that if I got the full buffet, I could get all the coffee I wanted. I thought that was my only other option, and I said no. Again, it may be my missing her saying a second cup would cost extra, and I would have paid for a second cup, but the whole encounter was a bit strange for a four star hotel. Coffee is not expensive, and this was an expensive hotel, a complimentary cup of coffee would have been a simple gesture, especially after the gravel in my salad. Other than that, it is a nice place, and the afternoon receptionist was extremely pleasant.

Fantastic hotel stay. Very attentive and friendly staff and great service. Lovely pool and outdoor spaces and a 20min walk to St Paul d Vence. 2cv shuttle also available. Highly recommend.

The La Grande Bastide is simply divine in every way. The service, especially Sylvie, was just wonderful. The view from the hotel is just stunning. The cool pool was heavenly on the hot days. My room was well-appointed, the bed very comfortable and the decor charming. The location is ideal as a home-base for day trips to Antibes, Nice, Eze or Monaco. Rita and Heinz, the proprietors, were just lovely. I will return, hopefully very soon!

Excellent hotel and exceptional value. European bathrooms can be a bit tricky, and this was no exception but the property is just about perfect. Breakfast for €27 was, in fact worth it. Great pool, spectacular views of St. Paul de Vence.

What an amazing time we had at La Grande Bastide. All aspects of our stay were fabulous but by far the biggest asset the hotel possesses is its wonderful staff - from Virginia on reception to Sacha who drove us to St Paul in the super 2CV. We will definitely be returning in the future.
