a visit to Newent

The George is a pleasant, old fashioned hotel which, while lacking some of the facilities of such places as Holiday Inns or Travelodges, is comfortable and friendly and very popular with the locals. The staff are very helpful and co-operative. It is ideally situated in the centre of Newent We would certainly stay there again if in Newent.

The access to the parking area is quite narrow, to navigate through with a wide car is challenging. The room decor is a bit dated; however the bed is very comfortable and clean. Bar - at the ground flood, but not tried.

Nice friendly old inn in the middle of Newent. Opposite a good cafe and within walking distance to a number of pubs and bars. My dog was made really welcome and well looked after.

Stayed at the George Hotel for 1 night. Had a twin room which was on the first floor. Room was clean and tidy with an en suite bathroom. Located in the market town of Newent within walking distance to pubs, restaurants and shops. Parking available to rear of hotel.

Perfect stopover, friendly pub, interesting town.

Centuries-old pub with loads of character, good beer selection, friendly staff, smooth check-in and a big room (even had a bath) overlooking the quirky, historic High St. Parking outside, cafes, shops, post office, all within yards.

Parking ok but not on site. No hot water in the wash basin in room. Had to hold shower head by hand. Outdated equipment. Carpets stained and not very clean. Heating didn’t come on. But comfortable beds, and young staff very friendly and helpful. Room at front so traffic noise.

Splendid historic hotel

Last minute accommodation in the adorable town of Newent led us to the George Hotel. Amazing to discover the building has been used as a carriage house for over 400 years. Such incredible history! Employees were very friendly and we enjoyed our stay!
