The hotel was very clean and cosy and had easy access to nearby restaurants and transportation, the shower had hot water and the a/c was easy to control, staff was very friendly and attentive, checking in and out was a breeze, I definitely recommend this hotel and would stay here again :)

NYC vacation

First visit to NYC. Clean hotel, staff was nice. Just a few hundred feet to subway for easy access to all of Manhattan. Will definitely stay again

Great central location

It was a great location. The folks that worked there were kind and generous- especially Charles at the front desk. The hotel room we had needed fans to be cleaned up and some minor fixes Like a new lamp shade, ripped carpet, etc.

A small, comfortable, clean hotel on the Upper West Side, mere steps to the 96th Street subway station. I've stayed here many times and have always had a positive experience. Some rooms are now getting an upgrade, which is nice.

This is a nice hotel with a great location and one of the only moderately priced hotels on upper west side. The expedia ad said free internet but there is a $22 a day facility fee for internet. There are not a lot of amenities but the staff is friendly and helpful and the rooms,though very small, are very clean with wood floors. I would stay there again.

Great place to stay

I've stayed at the Newton many times. The rooms and common areas are always clean. The upper-floor rooms are quiet, or at least as quiet as possible in New York City. The location is perfect, as it's across the street from the 96th Street express subway station -- easy access to anywhere in New York. The place is undergoing major upgrades, but the construction hasn't been intrusive. Charlie Montfort at the front desk is always accommodating and friendly.

Loved the location- across the St from the subway, and in a great neighborhood! The staff was warm and welcoming! Loved them! Room was a good size for NYC. Very clean and comfortable. We could control temp from the e room, which is not always the case in older buildings. We’ll be back!

Decent Upper West Side hotel

Decent Upper West Side hotel. Easy access to 123 subway trains and minutes from Midtown for a much quieter stay in NY. Comfort was ok. There was some noise from water pipes on the upper floors that could be a bit annoying but something that I would expect in an older NYC building.
