This is a local hotel that we passed often, but never has the need to stay for we lived in the area. We were closing on our home and needed a place to stay for one night. The Whitney inn was perfect! We booked the king room which was both spacious and super clean. It seems it has been remodeled recently. The bed was amazingly comfortable, the room size was huge and the bathroom was super spacious and overall a great stay at the Whitney inn.

No frills

No frills hotel on busy street. Short drive to Space Ballroom in Hamden. Hotel fire alarms went off at 4:50 AM for about 30 seconds! TV wouldn’t turn on. Bathroom door was missing knob, just a big hole in door where knob should be.

This place is a disaster. The rooms were filthy and smelled as if someone was actively smoking multiple cigarettes in the closet. Also too close to the road. The guy behind the counter was nice enough but the glass partition gave the place a flop house vibe top to bottom. Avoid at all costs.

This is not a safe place to stay. I actually did not stay the night and I got a refund on my reservation. I pulled up and it looks like people are actually living in the motel. Everyone was on drugs and looked dirty and disheveled. Think about the trashiest motel that you have seen in a movie where drug addicts and prostitutes live as their residence and then times it by 10 and that accurately describes the Whitney Inn.

Room is big and clean. Staff is friendly. However, the facilities need some repairing. My door did not have a safety latch - it had clearly fallen off because the holes are on the door. This is not safe for a single woman travelling. My bathroom door had not lock or door knobs. If you are a big young man, it might be fine. As a woman, I did not feel safe.
