“Great stop for a long distance drive from Scotland to Kent. Basic but that is reflected in the good prices. Bed was clean and comfy, breakfast was good.”

“I was really looking forward to my stay at The Candlesticks. However as soon as I entered, I began to have my doubts. The bar area, where the owner received us, looked particularly shabby and it smelt musty. It was 3pm (an hour after checking-in should have started) and the room wasn't ready. It wasn't such a big deal, but it was another warning sign. I was in a single room, which made a certain saying about a cat spring to mind. “Excellent food in a lovely village next to a main road however when you shut the windows the traffic noise was vastly reduced. The close room was great value.”

“The hotel was excellent. We were offered a room upgrade on our arrival to a deluxe room and the room was superb. Very clean and comfortable with both a bath and separate shower - huge bathroom. The bar area was cosy and welcoming. We ate in the restaurant and the food was excellent. Good selection of wines. We will definitely be returning. Just wish our stay had been longer.”
