We are a family of six stayed in 2 rooms for 3 nights in July 2026. This is an excellent hotel to stay in Jaffna, and we will definitely stay here without hesitation in our next Jaffna visit. Location is safe, convenient and very close Jaffna town. The property is immaculate and well-maintained. Staff are extremely courteous, extremely helpful and professional. The assistant manager and the receptionist, Dilakshi, are very caring and always attentive. Rooms are of good size and clean. Amenities in the rooms are adequate, but could be improved (dispensers are cumbersome). The most remarkable experience we enjoyed on a daily basis was the breakfast and dinner buffet. Food was absolutely delicious, very much authentic and was the best we had during our 3 week visit to Sri Lanka. Selection of dishes were amazing and reflected the true flavours of Jaffna. The head chef, Gillion is excellent, professional, courteous and extremely caring and accommodative, so as other chefs, Vijayan, Kajayanthan and Yuvaruban. All of them made our stay and experience delightful during our Jaffna visit. We are happy that we chose to stay in The Thinnai for our Jaffna trip.

Wonderful Stay at The Thinnai Hotel

We had an amazing stay at The Thinnai! The atmosphere is lovely, with natural trees and plants all around, creating a very green and refreshing environment. It really feels like a little oasis, so peaceful and relaxing. Our room was spacious, well-maintained, and air-conditioned made our stay really comfortable. A special mention to the fantastic staff! Dasinta at reception gave us such a warm welcome and was always happy to help with any questions. We also had great service from Dilakshi in the restaurant, who was very friendly and made sure we had everything we needed for a lovely breakfast. All in all, The Thinnai Hotel gave us with a memorable stay, and we’d highly recommend it!

We stayed at the hotel for 11 days over 2 separate bookings. The hotel in general is a good place to stay. The ground maintenance staff/ house keeping and a couple of the reception workers were kind and welcoming and always smiling. There were a few reception workers who were not so welcoming and rude. 1st booking - the room we booked was not available so the hotel provided an upgrade. Unfortunatley even though they said it was an upgrade, they locked 1 of the rooms and another area. When we asked if this can be unlocked, they advised that we could use only 1 room. We mentioned at the point of check in that you upgraded us. The reception staff mentioned that because we did not pay for this room, they were unable to provide house keeping or maintenance. Why say upgrade then? 2nd booking - When we made the second booking through Hotel.com, and arrived at the hotel, the man at the reception was very rude and had informed us that there was no rooms available for one of the days. He had asked us to cancel our booking and to book else where if possible. We had mentioned that this was not our problem and was the problem of the hotel. He still tried to persuade us to cancel even if it meant us losing our payment.

Dette er det verste hotelet vi har bodd på noensine! De hadde et håndkle for 4 personer, såpe/shampoo ble ikke etterfylt. Hadde ikke mat som stod på menyen til tross for at de belastet oss for rom med frokost. Maten var gammel og tørr. Ingen personer til å motta oss på restaurent. Dette stedet er et eksempel på hvordan et hotel IKKE skal være. Dyrt i forhold til hva vi fikk. Kortsagt, en KATASTROFE!

Nice place, we would stay again.

Very good service and friendly and helpful staff. The room was comfortable and big enough. Bed was comfortable and bathroom OK. The pool was clean and deck chairs was comfortable. Towels supplied at the pool. Breakfast was OK. We had dinner a couple of nights and all we had was really good and plentiful. Location is a bit off so you need a drive to get to the center of town. But it is quiet. The only real drawback was that they don't serve any alcohol, not even beer.
