A beautiful modern ryokan with friendly and helpful staff. Everything you need to hike the Nakasendo where is comes to a place to stay. Would stay again.
Stayed 2 nights to do the Nakasendo trail and couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The entire place was spotless and the service was too notch. We were a bit hesitant on the shared bathrooms, however it was not a concern at all. The city of Nakatsugawa is a hidden gem and we enjoyed our stay here, can’t recommend it enough if you’re in the area!
Perfect station while hiking nakasendo or just for a quiet night

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
Receptionist was friendly and staff was hospitable. The hostel stay caters to hikers doing the Nakasendo trail and is close to the Nakatsugawa station.
Our room, spacious for two adults , was right above the reception and lounge area so we heard a fair amount of noise during the evening but it quieted down by 9p.
Women’s showers are on the 2nd fl and men’s on the 3rd. There are o ly two shower stalls for each gender but there wasn’t a wait for availability. Shower pressure was strong and adequate hot water.
Overall, very clean place to stay for a night.

Liked: Staff & service, amenities
Overall, we liked this place. It is clean and tidy. common shower and toilet is clean. The only thing is we felt we had bed bug bites. so I would recommend to the owner to improve on this part then we would have given better rating for this accommodation. A bonus surprise at this place is they provide complimentary light breakfast (eg bread, packed soup). Nice and friendly staff.
Hotel was very close to the station and a bus stop for Magome. Staff was polite and helpful. We liked traditional Japanese style rooms. It would be nice to heve better breakfast selection.
Friendly staff. I was not aware this had a shared bathroom when I booked it. Women’s bathroom is on one floor mens is on another. Extremely inconvenient when needing to go to the bathroom at night. Stairs are very small no elevator. Very hard to transport luggage up/down. Paper thin walls. They provide earplugs because of how bad the neighbor noise is…. Location is very good close to train station. Good place to schedule the hike but I cannot imagine staying here more than 1-2 nights.
I'm glad I stayed more than one night, otherwise my rewiev had looked differently. My first night was horribel. The family next door was talking loud, stomping, slammed doors and run up down the stairs. Finally 23.30 they got quite.
Unfortunately this was the night I had to get up early to walk nakasendo trail.
The others night the new neighbours was quiet. And I liked the place. Nice idea with women and men floor. But was mostly men on women floor still. Showers felet safe and i never meet anyone there
We had a really nice stay, it met our expectations. Everything was clean and working, even though walls are thin people were good at being respectful and quiet. Only thing we were missing was plug with ground to use our adapter or USB charge in the wall. Also i found the matresses a bit hard to sleep on. The personal are english speaking and very helpful. Can highly reccomend the hike from Nakatsugawa to Nagiso through magome and tsumago. It is a nice find to the price.
Overall a memorable amd good ryokan experience.
Only reason why I'm rating this property 3 stars instead of 4 is due to the body odor in the room and the fact that I was unaware of not having a private bathroom prior to booking the room. Other than that, it was a great stay.
The bathrooms are shared and our room was on the 2nd floor and the men’s restroom and shower were on the 3rd floor up stairs with no handrails. The restaurant does not serve dinner only breakfast for guests and you sleep on futons on the floor and no chair in the room
