We enjoy Khorat as a large city with many options for tourists, i.e. dining and activities nearby, without the congestion and pollution of Bangkok. We would recommend Pimai, the historic ruins nearby and the huge banyon tree park just outside town.

3/5 - Okay

Except for Phimai, not a great tourist location. Unless you rent a car or hire a driver, getting here is either by bus (4 hrs) or train (6hrs). A new high speed rail line to Bangkok is under construction and may open in the next 2 years.

4/5 - Good

Not many currency exchange places or taxi service. Food at hotel very reasonable
