It was a great place to stay in Hakuba and I wish I could give a higher rating than a 5. It has easy access to all the ski resorts via either uber, taxi or their own shuttle. The staff was incredible and was the biggest perk of this visit we did not expect. All of our needs were met and the staff made it feel more like a home than just a place of stay. I think the experience that the staff brings makes it well worth the stay. I couldn’t recommend this place more if you’re looking for somewhere in Hakuba!

Close to the station

Perfect for skiing in winter or hiking in summer. And if you’re the person who loves to meet new people it’s also a great place for that.

The inn is more like a Bed and Breakfast, with the host living at the property and making breakfast for guests in her kitchen. The host was very helpful with dining and bus schedule recommendations and even helped us ship our luggage. Great place to stay if you are looking for something other than a large hotel chain.

This lovely, rustic inn is conveniently located within walking distance to JR Hakuba Station, where shuttles between ski resorts and transportation to/from major cities stop. Shared area of the inn, including restrooms, showers, and a dining lounge are always nice and clean. The owner is very friendly and accommodating.

A little hostel type inn near the train station in Hakuba, walkable distance from many shopping and dinning options, as well as close to the bus stop to take you to many hill in the area. The inn is as charming as the Seiko the owner, a sweet lady who treats you more as family than a customer. A very affordable option for the area.

Amazing host and convenient location

The host was extremely accommodating and kind. Her communication skills were excellent. The room was clean. This is a good option based location near ski resorts and main streets. 10 min walk to train station.

Warm and cosy

The best thing about West Coast Inn are the owners who are very kind and helpful. The accommodation is hostel style, basic but with everything you need. The room was warm and cosy. The breakfast simple but enough, with decent coffee a bonus.

This is an airbnb/ hostel style. But the service and cleanliness and level of the people that book here are nothing like most hostels. The host is AWESOME! She does everything to make her guests feel good and welcome. Breakfast is simple but efficient and good. The room was cozy, clean and all amenities worked great. I would stay here again but truly, it’s the host that makes this place excellent. She truly cares for her guests.

This is honestly one of the best places I've ever stayed. The host is amazing and incredibly friendly. The room was really cozy and clean. The included breakfast was a lifesaver! There are timetables and phone numbers available for the various buses and taxis that can take you to the different resorts and stores for snow sports equipment rental. All in all it was a great experience. Would stay there again any time!

The host Seiko, an mature Japanese lady is extremely hospitable and friendly. She makes you feel at home. The property is a little old but reasonably clean. Simple breakfast is provided. The room is spacious by Japanese standard. The facility is homely but not hotel standard. Bathroom and toilet is shared.

My partner and I were eager to experience the snow in Hakuba and were in search of an affordable and charming place to stay for a couple. We stumbled upon West Coast Inn, and its location turned out to be incredibly convenient for us. Situated just a 3-minute walk from Hakuba Station (also providing access to the Hakuba Free Shuttle to the Happo One Slope and other slopes), it was perfect. Seiko and her husband were delightful hosts, both fluent in English, which was helpful for us as non-Japanese speakers. Our room and the overall ambiance of the inn were delightful, and they truly made us feel at home.

Good find for last minute in winter high season. It's basically a hostel. The common area and kitchen could be spruced up. The heater in the room was either too hot or had to be turned off. I opened windows and left it on to find the sweet spot. The bathrooms were down the hall and in a very cold hallway. Location was close to train station, close to shuttle to some resorts, Happo was 20 minutes away by walking or ¥800 on the infrequent bus. I walked. There are some decent restaurants close. Not as many as happo or Echoland, but you can walk or taxi to those places, if you have a reso, as most of them get booked out in advance in high season.
