Great hotel in front of Hedge falls, near Mt Shasta, Siskiyou lake and Castle lake. Go to Dunsmuir only to get your groceries at the supermarket and visit beautiful Mt Shasta town for shopping and coffee. We took a drive to nearby Ashland, Oregon, just 1 hour away, and were gratefully surprised at the great Lithia park, and many restaurants and shops of this little town. Please visit the Oregon Shakespeare theatre if you can.

Its a good stop over

We’ve stayed here before… it’s unusual in that check in is thru the cafe next door… but the staff is great, it’s quiet and comfortable and a good stopping place between portland and Oakland . And cheaper than Redding

Rather weary traveler after a long drive in the dark coming into an unknown place, the fact that it was tied to the Penny Cafe should have been made more clear. Got a breakfast omelet to go, it was DELICIOUS!

This was the best option for our budget, but the locals told us that this is actually where the guys from the railroad stay. Didn’t get room service the entire stay of one week. Overall we were happy with the place but I wouldn’t stay there alone.

This motel was basic, and fine for that. It is a block distant from the freeway, but turning on the fan blocks the limited noise from trucks. So...it was OK.

Don't judge the room by the building exterior.

We were a bit concerned when we pulled in to the parking lot. Exterior of building is rough. Wonderful surprise with room interior and comfortable bed. Not top of the line furniture but clean room and very comfortable mattress. Very nice shower too.

Check in is at the diner next door. The lady there was also cooking and serving. Despite all that she was cheerful and helpful. Even offered to help me when I was a little uneasy about being on the second floor. It was nice and quiet. Room was clean and bed was comfortable. I would probably stay ‘downtown’ next time but just for a different experience of Dunsmuir.
