Amazing town , lovely hotel !

Had two days in a clean room with clean washroom in it, nice comfort bed , slept like home , the staff absolutely professional, se típus but kind . Definitely will come back later !

Hillside hotel

Very helpful staff ,hotel is very dated , furniture looks like from 1980s thrift shop ,didn't risk the breakfast in the morning either The establishment is currently for sale ,I think a bulldozer would be a better option than a buyer

Bit basic. Clean and comfortable though.

The room was comfortable enough and had all facilities youd except. Breakfast is a bit of palaver. Help yourself to cereals. Boil the kettle to make coffee once you find the bottled water. Then unplug the kettle to plug in toaster. Some lighting would of also been helpful in the dining area.

Pretty rough!

Really dated, run down place...right opposite a busy train line (commuter in the daytime and cargo during the night) Small room with thin walls, massive window with no soundproofing combined with paper thin curtains meant a terrible night's sleep.

The abandoned hotel!

Hopeless in terms of check in. Nobody there and waited outside for nearly an hour. Breakfast was a joke. Again building abandoned. Some bread, cereal, milk and a kettle to fend for yourself. Wouldn’t have minded but we were told there would be someone there! I’m sure it’s a staffing issue but the ad is very misleading. Rooms were clean (apart from the shower) and it is a quiet place.

Don’t stay!!

Absolutely awful hotel. Pretty sure the room wasn’t cleaned prior to us staying as it was disgusting. Breakfast option was awful too. Fruit all mouldy / bruised. Bread for toast but no butter etc even checked on fridge. Tried to complain but no staff around. Was advised by other guests no staff around until late afternoon. Awful. Don’t stay.

Not a hotel.

I arrived at 8pm and was told by the the receptionist that the kitchen had just closed, I was given a room on the top floor which was the size of a prison cell. The bed in the room was a childs bed. very narrow and when I went to bed my feet were out the bottom and I am only 5ft 10 tall. I came down stairs to go out and get some food that there is never and food available and they normally order and have it delivered. There was no heating in the room.About 7.45am in the morning I went down for breakfast, only to find the place in darkness. I could not find a light switch for the dining room and there was no one around to ask. There was a note on the door to say , On your way out lock the door and put your key in the letterbox.

Decent hotel with rooms with noise bar.

The hotel has its rooms on top off a bar playing loud music. At check inn I was not informed off any arrangements, but had to much noise during my stay. During Sunday there was loud music for 4 hours or more. The hotel did not inform me off this at check inn or during the stay. Check inn went fast even though the did not have registrated my prepaid reservation. The internet connection is there but not useful. I can’t browse sites without long waiting time and Streaming content is impossible on the connection. Room size is fine and so is bath room. It is a drive from shopping and other options.

A very welcome stay from everyone at the hotel. Good atmosphere at night. Was a little disappointed no hot breakfast but overall a very pleasant stay.

Breakfast was a great disappointment Nobody told us it would be in a plastic bag at our door and it consisted of a chocolate brioche and an apple and a Capri sun No staff in the hotel in the morning when we left Just had to put our key back through the front door after we locked it

Bed for the night

The food was good in the bar for dinner. Staff were lovely. Mattress was hard/perished, could feel the springs and squeaky. Bathroom needs refreshed. Breakfast in bag was awful. Tangerine, belvita biscuit, stale pastry and carton of orange juice.

Nothing wrong with Hillside hotel a bit of confusion at checking in A booking was missing so I had to extra for a room ( even thought I had confirmation emails) also as the food was so good no cooked breakfast was available just a brown bag containing snack bar fruit juice and a piece of fruit

Second visit - meh!!

This is the second time I've stayed here. But possibly the last. The owners have changed and the menu vastly reduced. (Not sure if this is another victim of Covid or a new policy. Either way I'm gutted the Fishermans feast is gone). Food in the evening was good though. Four of us stayed and I was given the wrong room. Ended up in a single though paid for a double. Room was ok so I didn't complain at the time. It felt like the rooms haven't been cleaned in a while. I get they probably haven't had guests in a while but someone could have brushed away the cobwebs and maybe changed the biscuits. Breakfast although paid for was not offered, (Covid again!) though they did try to rectify it with a little bag of food. The gesture was appreciated. It was a Saturday night. Bar full of kids but most of the locals stayed away. Guinness was good though.
