The rooms are quite outdated, but I go here for the onsen and beautiful view it offers of the green hills in the gorge area. Hearing the river is an extra bonus. The onsen area is well kept and been remodeled a bit. The rooms need work, but the important points- comfortable bed and good heating/AC unit are great.

Comfortable place to stay at Oboke, the staff is helpful, much appreciate on the shuttle service between Oboke station and the hotel. The only disappointed is the Wi-Fi service.

Nice one night experience of more traditional inn.

We picked this hotel for a Japanese experience at a hot springs. Which it delivers. So this is a bamboo mat, sleep on the floor on a thin mat type of place for the room we booked. Which is what we wanted for 1 night. Shower is outside with the hot tub. Great views across the river while soaking in the tub. The shower and tub had decent coverage for the rainy day we were there. The dinner is set, with some items that were, uhm, unique for us during our trip. We had lunch at an excellent soba place up river, and the breakfast buffet at the hotel. There isn't much close by so dining options are limited

Wonderful onsen experience. They have curtesy bikes to make the most of the awesome path along the river. Rooms were musty but you get used to it, it’s fine for a short stay. Nice and spacious and comfortable. Staff were friendly. The breakfast was delicious. Iya Valley is lovely, definitely get out to the bridges when they open. We had one to ourselves and only a couple of people at the twin bridges.

Das Personal ist sehr aufmerksam. Aber das Hotel ist sehr in die Jahre gekommen. Dafür sehr teuer, also schlechtes Preis/Leistungsverhältnis. Das ist nicht alles: Der Teppichboden im Zimmer und im Speisesaal ist indiskutabel. Die Tischdecken werden selten gewechselt, höchstens umgedreht. Wir waren froh, dass wir am zweiten Abend einen Tisch ganz ohne Tischdecke hatten (bei diesem Preis ist das natürlich so eine Sache). Das Essen ist gut, sowohl Frühstück als auch Abendessen waren gut. Der Onsen ist sauber, es gibt zwei Becken, was gut ist, da das Hauptbecken super heiß ist. Eine kleine Sauna gibt es auch. Es gibt e-Bikes zum Ausleihen (gratis, da sie nur ohne Akku ausgeliehen werden, was in der Gegend ein Witz ist).
