“It's a lovely clean and bright studio in the heart of Bayreuth, a 15 minute walk from the train station and less than a minute from the colourful and lively Maximilianstraße. If you're prepared to self-cater (and the local supermarkets are excellent), then it's a bargain. What stops it from my giving 5 stars? Not much. The apartment can get very hot, although a fan is provided. A separate receptacle for recycling would be welcome, as would a dustpan and brush for daily cleaning and instructions...

“Please beware this is not a hotel but some sort of youth hostel. YOU have to make your own bed. There are no towels or soap in the toilet. No furniture either. No Wi-Fi in the room. The fire alarm went off for over an hour and nobody came to either check to see if the hotel was literally on fire or simply turn it off. Needless to say, IT...
