Lovely quiet place with wonderful gardens and pool. Clean and large rooms, great staff, generous breakfast. Next to 3 in one spa for fabulous massage and a good coffee shop right next door. Great location. I cannot stress how lovely and accommodating staff is.

Wonderful setting. We stayed in 'Pepper Cottage' and felt like we were in the jungle - but in a safe way. Best massages we had in Sri Lanka. Also the best breakfast - it was just so beautifully prepared. Location is set back off a main road - which you cannot hear - but this meant it was easy to walk to nearby restaurants.

We stayed at the Spice House for 5 days as part of a 3 week tour of Sri Lanka. Its well placed for easy walking to local restaurants, beaches and sights and the owner was able to arrange transport and guides to further afield locations.Breakfast was always more than ample and very tasty. Set well back from the road its very quiet.

Spice House Hotel. It’s a charming place, styled like an old British bungalow, right across from Coconut Hill in Mirissa. The location is beautiful, with lovely views, and the staff are super friendly and helpful. They offer a great breakfast included in your stay, and the internet is high-speed. Just one key thing to note: they only accept cash payments, even if you booked online through a site like Hotels.com. So be prepared with cash when you leave.

A Lovely Gem in Miriss

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at The Spice House. It was set back from the road, so very quiet and peaceful compared to my earlier hotel in the main road. It’s conveniently located <15 Min walk or 2 min Tuk Tuk from the main beach and restaurants, shops and other amenities in Mirissa. The grounds and rooms are lovely with many thoughtful touches, breakfast is delicious and everyone from The Spice House interacted was helpful and friendly.

Warm welcome and helpful staff. Room was spacious and comfortable. Only stayed one night due to our itinerary but would happily have stayed on. Didn’t eat breakfast in the property as we had an early start whale watching but they provided a small takeaway breakfast and water which was a nice touch. They also moved our packed luggage out of our room while we were out so we didn’t need to worry about managing this early in the am. Close to the beach and in a quiet location off the main, busy road.

Hidden gem tucked over a hill just off the main road with a jungle outlook. Lovely rooms, amazing breakfasts, friendly hosts and staff, and a short walk to where the action is. Would stay again in a heartbeat.

This beautiful property is outstanding, you can watch the monkeys playing in the trees whilst having an amazing breakfast or swimming in the pool. Hosts Phil and Wathsala are fantastic and very helpful. The gardens are lovely and well looked after by an incredible friendly team. I would highly recommend this fantastic place to stay to anyone and would definitely stay here again.

We booked a Deluxe Double room for 5 nights but did not get the room we booked. We were given a family room and it was anything but Deluxe. The room was very basic (the sort of room we used to stay in when backpacking 20 years ago) and quite tired and scruffy looking (mouldy bathroom, stained and unhygienic looking seating area on the balcony). We were hugely disappointed and wish we'd booked somewhere else as it spoiled our trip. On a positive note, the pool area and gardens were beautiful and immaculately maintained.

Nice property but little bit “tired” house and would appreciate small refurbishment here and there. Garden and pool on the other hand was great and location upper on the hill was quiet despite tragic from main road. Pleasing breakfast. We were satisfied in overall with our stay.

Just like living in a beautiful home. Food was absolutely delicious and our hosts were very helpful and friendly. Super Hotel & Great Hosts!

Genuinely outstanding hotel. Stayed in the Ginger room and was blown away by the quality of both the rooms and the amenities. Phil and Wathsala were great hosts and we'll book the Spice House on our next trip to Sri Lanka for sure and will recommend to friends and family.
