The room was compact but clean and comfortable; however its position on the ground floor at the front of the hotel meant that the busy road was just a pavement width from the window and the road noise was loud, intrusive and constant. I expect the rooms at the rear of the hotel would offer a quieter experience. The food at the hotel’s restaurant over the road was good quality and value. The staff were friendly and helpful, and worked hard to service the hotel reception and restaurant over the two sites. Parking was easiest behind the restaurant rather than the accommodation.

The staff make the Bell - we were warmly welcomed on checking in, and bar/restaurant service was friendly and efficient too. The room and dinner were both good value and good quality. We’ll look out for Greene King inns on future trips, as this was a very good and enjoyable experience all round.
