Very comfortable accommodation. Fran is an excellent host providing very tasty cake and a fruit bowl as extras. Gave good advice about things to do and see.
I received a warm welcome and the room was clean and spacious. There was fresh milk and fresh fruit available in the mini-fridge, which was thoughtful; also, delicious home made chocolate cake! This suited me perfectly for a one-night stopover on my travels.
We stayed for a wedding- even though the check in fell at a difficult time for the wedding (at the Old Cow Shed) Fran went out of her way to help us get the key, and then gave us a lift to the venue.
Room was warm and comfortable with tea, coffee and fresh fruit. Fran also facilitated a late checkout. Couldn’t ask for anything more, and significantly better than the alternative of the travelodge!
Loverly cosy place, clean and tidy accommodation and surroundings, very helpful owner who is very explanatory about the local area, would definitely book there again
We really enjoyed our stay at the stables. Lovely cosy accommodation with a beautiful garden to sit in and enjoy the surrounding countryside. Our host couldn’t have been more friendly and welcoming. Would definitely recommend.
This is a lovely little getaway place for solo travelers or couples. very cozy with the fire and basic coffee/tea facilities.
The hosts were amazing and very friendly with great knowledge of the area to help find things to do and places to eat.
Lovely property excellent hosts with a vast of information. Joining rooms though so be mindful if only booking one. Log burner was lovely and made our evening
What a lovely find! Stayed here for one night when visiting the Stag & Hounds, but could happily have stayed longer. Lovely location, great facilities and lovely touches with home made cakes on arrival and a fridge with proper milk and bottled water. Fran was very welcoming and helpful, and lots of information in the room about the local area and places to go/eat etc.
Very much enjoyed our stay at The Old Stables. Fran is an excellent host. Lots of little extras in the room. It was lovely sitting in the garden overlooking beautiful countryside and the sheep in the paddock.
The host was very friendly and made check in really easy, even starting the fire in the stove for us. The room was very nicely done up, cozy and comfy, with plenty of warmth from the fire. The kitchen area was compact but well supplied and clean. We really enjoyed our stay and would be happy to stay there again should we be in the area.

We took both properties for 2 couples which worked very well with the kitchen in the middle. We appreciated the extra touches; cake and strawberries and various breakfast items we had not expected.
Lovely garden to sit out in for a cuppa.
The host was charming and helpful. We would recommend the Old Stables.
Friendly welcome, warm comfortable accommodation, and perfectly situated, in High Leicestershire, for our needs. We stayed 2 nights and ate in the Stag & Hounds both nights, a mere 50m away, where the locals and staff were very friendly and the food delicious.
We had a small issue with the hot water which our host solved quickly and efficiently.
This is a characterful conversion of some old outbuildings, hence the `eco' rating, with plenty of space and good parking.
Fran is a wonderful host and crammed so many helpful little touches into the Old Stables, from a full set of guides and pamphlets to local activities to a comprehensive welcome package of essentials such as milk, water and cereals. It's nice to find a place to stay that even has sauces and salt and pepper - much overlooked by other property owners. We had a wonderful time, chilling out on the patio watching the sheep grazing and spotting wildlife. The property is perfectly positioned to access the Stag & Hounds pub (about a one minute walk) with its amazing food and warm welcome. A great base for all of the attractions in this beautiful area, including Melton Mowbray and Rutland Water.
I have no problem with the property. I have a major problem with Expedia. This property is in Burrough on the
Hill. It is not in Somerby and DEFINITELY not in Melton Mowbray.
The accommodation was good our host very friendly and helpful. We understood from the listing that a hot breakfast was included and that is not the case. However fresh fruit and a
selection of cereals were supplied. I think Expedia needs to update it's listings.
We stayed 2 nights surrounding a friend’s wedding at The Cow Shed.
We had a couple of questions before our stay and Fran was very prompt in responding to these messages.
It was easy enough to find with parking right outside.
The place was lovely. I personally don’t think the photos do it justice. It was a good sized space and we didn’t expect to have a kitchen and we had our own little outside space with chairs. Fran had filled our fridge with juice, drink and milk as well as fruit and cake. There was cereal available in the cupboard which would have been useful to know before, because we had brought breakfast with us. But it was really good to have the option there.
Fran was on hand throughout our stay if we needed her and she had useful information and recommendations about the best places to get breakfast and local taxis.
We really enjoyed our stay at The Old Stables and would definitely recommend!
