Had a lovely weekend. All staff very friendly and polite. Food very good too. Room clean and comfortable. Thank you to everyone at Red Lion for such a pleasant stay.
Lovely staff through out - reception/bar and kitchen. The food is tasty and portions are generous - the XL BBQ ribs are actually XL!
The rooms are clean and spacious with a will sought out lay out. While the link to the rooms from the bar could do with some refresh, the facilities in the room are great.
My room.had a view of Riber Castle, it was lovely making the connection on my hike.
I enjoyed my stay.
Very spacious room (no 6) , great food we enjoyed the Sunday carvery and a fantastic breakfast. Very relaxing atmosphere and lovely little town. Just be mindful if you are a light sleeper, it’s near a busy road and traffic starts around 5 am, otherwise would recommend and would be happy to return if in the area.
The Red Lion was a lovely for me and my partner, we had an amazing stay. The staff at the pub were lovely, especially Aviva who was so friendly and helpful in the restaurant. I give four stars only because the price was a little unreasonable for the time of year (mid-November) when many local attractions are closed. Otherwise I could not recommend this place enough for a lovely weekend break.
Parking great, car park at the rear. Check in easy. Room 6 is a good size with 4 poster bed and large bathroom. Tea/coffee in the room, can be replenished from bar. Breakfast was filling and good selection. Friendly service. Hopefully we’ll be back x

The location was good. The room furniture was well worn and tatty chair no fabric on the arms. The ensuite appeared to be new.Staff were friendly. They were changing the menu so food choice was limited. Breakfast was ok.
On arrival I was greeted by a lovely young lady who showed me to my room and made sure that I had everything that I needed. The room was pleasant and well kept. It was spacious and comfortable. The en-suite was nice and the shower powerful and hot. The included breakfast was delicious and service couldn’t be faulted. Overall I enjoyed my stay and would recommend this property to anyone looking to stay in Matlock.
Great pub in Matlock...very friendly staff and very helpful. Room was large and well ventilated. Comfortable bed and everything clean . Breakfast was good , very tasty. No real noise from the pub in the evenings , nice beer garden . Would recommend if you are looking for a good base while in the area.
Petit établissement familial au dessus d’un pub, néanmoins très calme , personnel adorable et chambre simple et confortable , parking attenant gratuit
Nous aurions apprécié des produits d’hygiène shampoing et gel douche
Great hub for touring around. Lovely accommodation, our room was spacious, wonderful bathroom area. Great breakfasts to set you up for the day. Friendly, helpful staff. Nice bar, good selection of drinks including beers brewed on the premises. Would recommend.
Can not fault the Red Lion at all, booked to stay for our wedding anniversary and we couldn't have asked for anything better.
On arrival the staff were friendly and helpful and I could see that they had ensured procedures were followed with respect to maintaining our safety.
The room exceeded expectations, even better than the pictures depicted. Plenty of space and the room was clean and tidy ready for our arrival.
We booked to have the breakfast and the food was wonderful and more than I could manage, we didn't partake in the main menu but I have no doubt that the food will meet the same exceptional standard as breakfast had been.
I would highly recommend a stay at the Red Lion, ideally placed if you want to explore the countryside that Derbyshire has to offer or perfect if you just want a couple of days away.
