The accommodation was in the Sassi cave area and was a lovely cave hotel. The air conditioning was OK. The location was great. Be aware there is NO car parking at this hotel or anywhere near it in spite of what the information says. You have to park your car at a car park about 5 km away and catch a shuttle bus then walk.

A fabulous stay in Sassi

This is a unique and fantastic hotel. The location is perfect, the staff is exceptional, the room is clean and comfortable, the breakfast was amazing. We felt welcomed and right at home. We highly recommend staying here to enjoy the hospitality and to experience history.

The staff was fabulous; both helpful and kind. We were unaware that caves are humid, which was our naivete. Breakfast was ample. Our cave was large and had lots of places to sit comfortably, inside and out. The only reason the stay was not 100% excellent was the humidity inside the cave despite running dehumidifiers and air conditioning. Having a sweet dog on premises was a bonus!

To be honest, we weren't sure what to expect. But after learning about the history of the city and what it has taken to come back is amazing! Having the experience of being able to stay in a "cave" was a something we will never forget. What an absolute dream stay! The apartment was so unique and quaint and charming! Federico was the kindest host! He was friendly, professional, helpful, and genuine. The room was SO quaint! Spacious. Plenty of amenities. Comfortable bed. Air conditioning was sufficient. We could walk everywhere we wanted to go. The breakfast in the morning was delicious and more than ample. I would absolutely stay at this residence again!

In the heart of the sassi/ old matera. Beautiful rooms with good amenities. Very clean and comfortable. Walking distance to everything. Host was friendly and other staff were polite, they took the trouble to use translate so they could communicate. Breakfast is the italian way so cake and coffee. We didn't eat at the restaurant but the food looked delicious. Highly recommend this property, we would stay here again
