Awesome city with tons of history and a Romanesque cathedral that rivals them all.
Chose Mainz because we wanted to ride the train from Mainz to Cologne along the Rhine, but were pleasantly surprised at how much we loved the open plaza, markets, cobblestone streets and beautiful flowers throughout the town. Highly recommend.
The elf/goblin fountain south of the hotel was really neat. Continue south to get to the downtown area.
Great city to visit with slot of things to see and do.
We were able to walk to old town. We only had one evening so just walked around & had dinner. Lots of great shopping.
