Excellent service, excellent private onsen inside the room.
The greatest retreat from the hectic streets of Tokyo, Osaka and Kyoto. After all those cities we came to this hotel in Minakami and never wanted to leave.
We had the best time here. The people working at this hotel were always attentive and ready to help us with more than we could ask for and we hope to be back soon.
This place was absolutely wonderful! My first time experiencing an onsen and it was amazing. The shuttle pick up and drop off from the train station was great. The welcoming staff at check in/check out. The room I selected was AMAZING!! So serene and quiet. I got the private bath with my room, and boy was it relaxing. The halfboard/dinner and breakfast was AMAZING!! The food was soooo fresh and delicious. Do note, that it is further away from most of the attractions in the area, so if youo don't have a car it can be a little hard getting around. But If you are looking to get away for a day or two to just relax, this is the place.
This was a great experience to enjoy a hot springs Ryokan the staff was very detail oriented and very friendly. Dinner was an amazing experience. Had a private onsen in the room and spent much time in there at night listening to the light rain and enjoying the hot water relax and heal my body.
My wife and I had such a wonderful time here. The staff were absolutely first class and attended to our every need. The room was a nice size and very comfortable. The hot springs, both in on our balcony and the larger shared baths, were incredibly relaxing, clean, and well appointed. The food, both breakfast and dinner, deserve its own 5 star rating. Dinner was 5 courses and we had some amazing cocktails including one with plum liquor made on site. Both dinner and breakfast were substantial and perfectly reflective of Japanese cooking using seasonal and local ingredients. We can’t wait to come back. A word of advice: take the Joetsu Shinkansen from Tokyo to Jomo-Kogen, buy the tourist bus pass and take it to Minakami then Syoubun. Also lots of great outdoor activity in the area if you like to hike, ski, raft, etc.
