Room was as expected/advertised, turned on room fan and with 5 minutes it never worked again for the rest of our stay. Bed sheets & towels were not changed at all over the duration of our stay. Shower was either incredibly hot or cold no inbetween. But comfortable beds, good location as in the centre of Madrid, lady on desk tried her best to communicate with us as she doesn't speak English. As expected really but nice stay in Madrid.

This Hostal is in the perfect location for the city center. Sol center is a 3 min walk if that, plaza mayor & Mercado San Miguel are also within a 5 minute walk. There’s plenty of shopping, bars, and restaurants around. The hostal host was very very kind, we had a shower with hot water, comfy blankets & it was very clean. The only “bad” thing I would say is that the walls are thin so you do hear people coming & going & can sometimes hear conversation but it was quiet at night and safe. We spent 2 weeks traveling in Spain & began my trip in Madrid at this Hostal & also ended my trip at this Hostal & felt like I got the most of the city because of the location. It’s a good choice!

Ok, if you don't mind the smell of cigars!

Customer Service was great, Magda was friendly and attentive. The building itself is OK but the moment you enter the reception area of the hostal you can smell cigarette smoke. The smell in the rooms can be stronger although there are windows in the room, the smell prevails. I personally had a headache the nights we stayed. My sinuses were congested and my throat was extremely dry.

A couple of things I would suggest to improve your customer's experience is to first ensure that the photos of the rooms are accurate. The room I checked in was not the same room in the photo on the website. Second, perhaps put in the exact dimensions of the bed. The bed was too small to fit an adult comfortably. The room was rather claustrophobic, to say the least.

Worse Hotel ever, avoid at all costs

I booked twin room for my adult son & myself only to be given a tiny, windowless room, with a small double bed, and an arrogant and rude landlady who had no interest or concern and had a this is what I've got, we've given out the twin room to earlier arrivals!! Attitude of you didn't book with us so take it up with expedia, shocking worse hotel I've ever gone to, just walked out and found an alternative right opposite, Il Castillo, ten times better in every way, and same price, I'm now fighting for a refund.

They messed up our reservation. Of the 3 night stay, we had a teeny-tiny room with a single bed & no A/C offered to us for the first night because they weren't expecting us! I had the reservation in hand to prove that we should have been expected. After an hour of deliberation on their part, they reimbursed us 200 Euros for the first night. They would not allow my husband to sleep on the couch in the front , so he had to be in the same room with me on a little tiny bed . He got no sleep and I got very little. We told them we were leaving the next morning and expected a full refund. They refused . They said it was our decision not to stay there the next two nights when there would be a two-bedroom room available. We would have left the first night, except there was an event in Madrid and nothing was available. I will say, the person that was staffed that night was very apologetic.
