Hostal la Bañezana was the perfect location for a four day stay in Madrid. It had the amenities that we needed (free WiFi, air conditioning, own bathroom, elevator) and the staff was refreshingly personable and helpful. The central location meant that we were surrounded by the best of Madrid, with many main sights within two to three blocks. I will stay here again.

The room was ok. Bed was comfortable. Unable to leave window open as very noisy. Could hear every time someone used the bathroom in the rooms beside. Got woken up early but someone having a shower, sounded like it was in the same room as me. Got to sleep late due to people talking loudly.

Exactly as expected. Very small so I can’t fault that. If you’re not ready for that, find somewhere else. The location is everything! Do be prepared to walk your bags from the check in hotel to here. It’s maybe 50m I would definitely stay again.

The hostal is in Sol a very vibrant busy part of central Madrid. A very comfy bed, private bathroom and Aircon meant a good night's sleep each day we stayed and represented great value for money. We were round the back so it was very quiet, despite being in a noisy area, unsure if that might be a problem if you're elsewhere in the hostel. We did have to check in elsewhere, which was a bit of a drag as we arrived at 2am due to a delay but otherwise no problems.

Fantastic location

The location of the Hostal is amazing. We walked around central Madrid and found that we were always around 5 minutes away from the Hostal. The only downside is that the walls are quite thin. This didn’t bother me too much but it’s probably not ideal if you are a light sleeper - you can basically hear every conversation in the room next door; showers and pipes from toilet flushing can also be heard through the walls. The amenities are basic but if you just looking for a place to sleep at night, then I would recommend as the location is very good.

Staff was nice & the room itself was fine for one night (some stains on the bedsheets though..) but it should be said BEFORE booking that you have to check in in another place 5 mins away. Also, the single room is extremely small. I didn’t mind as much because I didn’t have a luggage but it definitely needs to be know by people you can’t open a luggage in that room. Also, it’s EXTREMELY noisy because walls are paper thin. Could hear conversations from the streets and conversations from the corridors as if I was chatting with them.

The room was fine, located centrally, easy to get around, but the bathroom was TINY. The shower stall was so small you could not bend over to shave your legs. In the stall the on/off for water is down near your ankles. When showering have to be careful not to hit or the water turns off, very weird. The bathroom itself was also small. Sitting on the toilet bent over to pick something off the floor and hit my forehead on the sink. When I booked the room (about 2 months before trip) I miscalculated and need to add another night to my stay. When I added the night they charged me the cost of what I originally paid plus another 70 dollars. I think that was too high of an additional charge. Not too many options at that point. Overall ok place to stay. The staff (not located at the site, one street over and down the block) were helpful (translator helps) and the room is centrally located.

Everything was close by, about a 5-15 minute walk max which was nice! The only downside was that there was a club across the street and they were partying till 7am. So if you are a light sleeper be mindful of that! Other than that everything was amazing!

Trying to check in was a nightmare as instructions not clear. Taxi could not stop outside checking in place as pedestrians and no internet on my phone to find it. On photo we had a kitchen area but when we got there no kettle or mugs! We had to buy mugs and kettle was shared between whole floor. Bathroom was very small. The positive was it was clean and central. Easy to get to places.

Perfect for the family

Very nice, clean and overall perfect place for a few days in the centre of Madrid for a little family. Really good service! Just don’t miss that the key is picked up at an other address!

Everything was good, the only thing I did not like was that I had to do check in in another building a few streets down the road, so It was ward to carry all the luggage to another location, check in and then go back the the first location to get to our room

I paid for a double room (sleeps 3 according to their site )and they clearly gave me a single that could barely fit me and my single luggage. The sheets were ok but the throw and pillows have seen better days. When I questioned the staff about the room she gaslit me into saying I was giving a double. I’m an architect I know what room sizes are.

Purtroppo l'unico punto di vantaggio della struttura è la posizione, centralissima e in una zona piena di bar e negozi. La via in cui si trova il palazzo però e purtroppo frequentata non solo da turisti e ospiti dei tapas bar, ma anche da prostitute e senzatetto, a tutte le ore. La camera era molto piccola (cosa anticipata in fase di prenotazione, quindi va bene), rumorosa e molto umida, con un bagno minuscolo, le porte del box doccia danneggiate e con solo mezzo rotolo di carta igienica a disposizione per 4 notti. Il prezzo dei pernottamenti, in linea con i prezzi molto alti di Madrid, dal nostro punto di vista è ingiustificato confrontando ciò che offre la struttura in confronto ad altre in cui abbiamo soggiornato durante 2 settimane di tour in Spagna: si trova una qualità di servizi 3 volte superiore, a metà del prezzo. I servizi sono praticamente inesistenti: per ben 2 volte non ci funzionava la chiave, al nr Whatsapp che ci è stato dato da usare in caso di problemi non ha risposto nessuno e ci siamo dovuti recare per 2 volte alla reception che si trova in un altro stabile per risolvere il problema. Per fortuna non e successo di notte.
