The displays of trains with information was very interesting. Also they showed live TV feed of several train depots that you could sit and watch. The model train displays and other train themed decor was museum quality! The community spaces and bedrooms were very clean and well maintained. The staff were excellent and very friendly. Breakfast hit the spot!

Couldn’t have asked for a better stay! The pool was clean and warm. Friendly staff. Comfy beds. My son loved the free pool table in the lobby. Much more than your average decor. Would definitely stop here if ever passing through this way again!

We arrived later in the evening for our stay. We were greeted by two staff members at the front desk and welcomed. The hotel was lovely and quaint. We had such an amazing stay. The room was very comfortable. Even though I was concerned about sounds from the hallway and the train whistles, we rarely heard any ambient noises. It was a magical place to stay. We loved the train decorations, especially my daughter who loved the green lanterns used by past generations of train lines. This is an amazing little hotel and would highly recommend staying off the beaten path at this hotel. The only down side was that there isn't a small gym or workout equipment but there is a pool, which was extra fun with the water fall feature.

20/10 would 1000% recommend this hotel and hope to come back time and time again. We have been traveling for 2 weeks, no more than 2 nights in 1 location, and this is by far the nicest hotel we have stayed in. Quiet, great breakfast, comfortable, clean. Staff was by far the some of the friendliest people we crossed paths with in our travels.

Tara at the front desk was so amazingly sweet. When you walk in, you instantly feel right at home. The train decor was incredible. This was probably the cleanest hotel I've ever stayed in. I'm looking forward to staying there again someday.

The Depot Inn and Suites is always a great place to stay. The employees are very friendly and knowledgeable if I have a question. The rooms are clean and well-kept, and it is usually quiet. The breakfast is very good. I really appreciate the recycled towels that are available because I don't like to worry about messing up the nice towels in the room.

The place and the staff were great! It contains a museum to the railroad hub that used to be in La Plata and it was very interesting. You can play pool (wonderful billiards table in the lobby), or you can swim in their large pool! I've stayed in large 4-5 star hotels that weren't as clean as this Inn. Complimentary breakfast was very good too - eggs were amazing. If we are ever in the Kirksville area again, this is the only place I'll stay.

We stayed for one night, just passing through on the way to our destination. We had a standard king room and were very pleased. It was clean and comfortable, and the hot breakfast was good. Bed was firm but decent. AC worked great, faucets worked great, and staff was friendly and helpful. Towels were better than what we usually find at hotels (for context, we tend to stay at better 2 & 3 star hotels). Decor was nice and it was quiet other than a train or two passing by. It is evident these folks care about their hotel and their offerings, which we appreciate. The only negatives were minor: placement of the sink/microwave/mini fridge was awkward, right by the door to the room; no bottled water (in our experience, most hotels these days have 2 bottles of water); sink was slow draining. I found we paid significantly more than what a quick search for this hotel showed for pricing, which was disappointing. We will do more comparison shopping in the future. Otherwise, we're happy we stayed here.

We loved everything about this hotel. The staff was kind, friendly and helpful. It was incredibly clean with everything in perfect order making it such a peaceful stay. The historical exhibits of trains and the railway system was a wonderful detail throughout the property. The breakfast was great as was the complimentary happy hour beverage. There is also a good Mexican restaurant next door. I would happily return to this hotel.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Luxury with a touch of home. This was my second stay, and it definitely won’t be my last. The hotel is beautifully maintained, exceptionally clean, and incredibly comfortable. The staff is warm, welcoming, and makes you feel like a valued guest from the moment you walk in. The rooms have the perfect balance of upscale comfort and a cozy, home-like atmosphere. Anytime I’m in the Macon or Kirksville, Missouri area, this will be my hotel of choice. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for an outstanding place to stay!
