Two floor building we were in was built in the 60’s as a lake resort. So the rooms are a bit dated but clean and comfortable. The main lodge with bar and restaurant was beautiful with a huge fireplace and comfy couches. Good food and cocktails. Great walking path around the lake with a board walk. We loved it!

This is the third time we stayed here. The views are beautiful and the restaurant is very good. The rooms are pretty basic and not updated except for new floors and the addition of tv and internet.

If you’re looking for a room with a view, and close access to hiking, this is a great spot! The lodge restaurant is convenient and you can even order and take to your room or outside to eat. There are lots of trails within minutes!

It was a hidden treasure located in the mountains. It was quiet and peaceful, and the staff was very nice.. I look forward to staying there again if I’m ever in the area.

Disliked: Amenities
I liked the pond in the back but unfortunately it was raining during my stay and I could not walk around it. I also liked the food in the restaurant. I did not like the room at all. Very, very outdated. The entire property could seriously use some renovations and is in dire need of updating.

The best and only thing this property has going for it is its location. Stunning nature of Shenandoah National park. Shower head was broken. Mattress was worn out. There was not WiFi even though they said there was - it was broken and no one knew how to fix it. The buildings all showed a need for significant structural work - pillars on front porch of main entry are rotting at the bottom. Anyway, the whole property need maintenance and more staffing for housekeeping and basic services.

Tucked into the mountains and overlooking a small lake, this is a very special place to stay. It's perfect if you want to continue your national park experience overnight, but prefer a very comfy bed over a tent. I can't recall the last time I encountered such warm, welcoming staff. They helped make this a very memorable part of our travels and we hope to return soon.

We liked our stay. The blinds did not go up and because some strings were frayed and there was a bit of mold in the bathroom. They view was wonderful and we saw lots of deer. The beds and pillows were very comfortable and the air conditioning worked great. People that work there are supper friendly.

We had three nights at Peaks of Otter Lodge. We loved the nostalgic feel to the lodge. Rooms aren't fancy here. But very clean. And the view from every room is stunning. The grounds were well manicured. Such a peaceful place. The restaurant staff was wonderful. The food was delicious. We are so glad we chose this beautiful place to celebrate our 45th anniversary.

I truly appreciate the Lodge and understand that there are probably financial constraints that prevent renovation or remodeling: the National Parks system is AMAZING and the lodges are in beautiful locations and affordable. Peaks of Otter is a lovely, accessible location. But the air conditioner was very old and very loud, and the blinds didn't work because the cords were broken. Aside from that, everything was wonderful: inexpensive dining and lodging in a beautiful location. Thank you!

We had a very quick overnight stay, and did arrive fairly late. Even though we had contacted the hotel that we were coming, we still had to wait a good 10 minutes for any staff member to check us in. The hotel rooms were dated but clean. The location is BEAUTIFUL. Overall it worked fine for what my family needed for the evening..
