The Walaker Hotel is an experience and delight in its antique character, location, service and food experience. Stay there, eat there and attend the owner’s talk … all delicous!
Absolutely wonderful historic hotel. Stunning location beside the fjord with lovely walk. Staff do everything possible to help you enjoy your stay. Hotel is stylish and comfortable, food is fantastic.
Great historic get-away hotel, beautifully situated with a view over Sognefjorden. Perfect place for a couple of relaxing days, with many options for hiking, kayaking and sightseing in the area.
This is a lovely property in a beautiful spot. We stayed in one of the historic rooms in the main building. It was comfortable, quiet, and the water pressure was excellent. The three course dinner with wine pairings was delicious and beautifully presented, if a tad pricey. The staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful. A unique hotel experience that we would definitely do again.
Gorgeous historical property for which I spent more than usual due to such wonderful reviews from everywhere. I was studying the capital Urnes stave church and could just take the little ferry across the field to get there. The old world charm of the garden with the summer house, the lovely appointed dining room and salon, and the charming village climbing up the hill behind the hotel made the stay delightful. If the dollar weren’t so weak, it would be more affordable!
The grounds were lovely. We wished our room was in the original building, rather than the addition with entrance from the back. The dining area was spectacular and the morning breakfast divine. The presentation was lovely and assortment of sweets and savories was brilliant. We wanted to stay and sit in the dining area for the rest of the day.
The stepson who checked us in was the only downside of our stay at Walaker. He was officious, abrupt, discourteous to our driver/guide and made a big deal about serving us dinner.
Also, the speaker after dinner barely covered the history of Walaker and the family but seemed very impressed with himself and his humor was sometimes off.

Staff, the location, the food — all excellent.we really enjoyed our stay there and would not hesitate to go back.
Such an historic beautiful old hotel in Solvorn, Norway for our last stay before leaving the country.
We just so happened to arrive the evening of the biggest storm in the last 25 years and our room was right in front of the ferry/dock to see all the action. As we arrived later in the day we were too exhausted to dine there so they brought us nice sandwiches and champagne upon arrival too.
Awesome place with great staff and an excellent location for exploring the Sognefjord area....Chef Pavol and the staff do an incredible job at Dinner and breakfast. We loved it and hope to return.
The hotel is quiet and beautiful. The property and the surrounding area is wonderful for wandering. The restaurant prix fixe dinner was spectacular! Wish we had more time there!
What a pleasant surprise, would love to come back

A very special experience. The dinner was better than some that I’ve had in Michelin starred restaurants. And after dinner, the owner shared the history of the hotel, which was very interesting. Room was clean, well appointed and quiet.
We thought our stay at Walker Hotel was exceptional. The hotel was very charming. We loved the history, the decor, the first rate staff who went way way way out of their way to make sure all their guests had a fantastic visit. The food was fabulous. Loved the gardens, the waterfront, the boat ride across to the Stave Church and hike to waterfalls. Our room was cozy and had a nice view. It couldn't have been better. If you are touring the fjords this place is a must! We hated to leave and it was a highlight of our trip to Norway!
Room charming. Staff very helpful and friendly. Both breakfast and dinner were superb. Had many pleasant walks. Ferry to the ancient church across the parking lot. And what a beautiful garden for afternoon tea.
Helt fantastisk.
