Unless you're on a strict budget & accept low standards - Avoid! The main building itself is nicely located (in a seemingly depressed seaside town) with a clean & spacious bar & dining area overlooking the Esplanade. The breakfast was perfectly decent! However, the room in the building ("Lodge") across the road was sub-par (like most UK budget hotels) but I don't think you'd find it anywhere this bad in a Best Western in the U.S.: No AC & west-facing, no room-darkening blinds/curtains (the light poured in from the sides), the mattress was a box of hard springs that you could feel & the lowest rent flat-pack furniture (IKEA would be a big upgrade), walls and tiles chipped and mouldy, flusher barely working. It's incomprehensible that the company - the brand - and the owner (franchisee?) has such low standards for service and their customers!

Room nice and big in The Lodge. Good choice of breakfast from the menu albeit mushrooms maybe should be included and not a paid for extra. Staff always on it and friendly and helpful. Meal menu has plenty of choice with large portions (try the chicken gyros) plenty of cocktails and and good choice of ales/beers. Plenty of seating inside and out I always stay here when visiting Lowestoft. One of the big draws is the amazing view from the bar/terrace areas. Excellent

Location is great and the staff were lovely but overall a bit disappointed. Glad we booked the room when it was on discount. We wouldn’t stay again. The beds were awful and uncomfortable, springs were noisy with every tiny movement. The curtains in the room were also poor and didn’t block out the light at all meaning we were awake by 5.30am with sunlight streaming in. There was a big crack in the side of the bath and a bit of mould on the bathroom ceiling. Appreciate it’s not advertised as a 5* hotel but the curtains and beds should have been better.

Our one night stay at the Hatfield Lodge was perfectly adequate, the room was clean and comfortable and the walk-in shower was good. Our only issue was, that the bed was a small double, but it was comfortable.

So, first of all the English breakfast. Have to pay extra for mushrooms (how rude and hence only 4 stars for it) but a good choice of continental food, cereal, yoghurt, pastries, jams. The room (I stayed in the lodge) very clean and spacious room however the radiator didn't seem to be working although towel rail in bathroom was but there was enough space for a wheelchair. Staff are diligent and friendly (both day and night) and I advised on the faulty socket in my room. I've stayed here before and I will again.
Honestly their cocktails are awesome. Look out for the 2 for 1 at certain periods.
