I think this is the most dynamic of downtown LA hotels in terms of the livelihood of the block. There are shops and restaurants, lots of pedestrians. Whereas other hotels in the area can feel isolated. Feels very New York.
On arrival I would have liked to be informed I could use a room key to get in and out of the hotel on the shopping center side. The first day I was using the east entrance and had to wait for someone to let me in until I realized the difference. I was given free use of wifi in the room which I liked. I found the room decor interesting in a hip art deco way. The temperature was easy to control. I don't like it too cold. The windows were huge and the view was okay. LA doesn't have great hotel views. Try Miami. Spectacular. The morning sun on the east side was a welcome visitor. The bathroom felt upscale. The lighting was unique. The fridge was a plus. The bathtub, when taking a shower, however felt a bit slippery and instead of pampering soft bath towels, they were very abrasive. That was probably the most disappointing aspect of the stay.
