The hotel was not easy to find as it is not advertised outside as “The Gate Hotel” it’s only by chance that by locating the door number and actually asking in reception was it identified this was the right place. The location is great with easy access to public transportation and plenty of local amenities. The room was spacious, however this was because we had been allocated a family sized room in the basement. Comfortable bed and decent sized bathroom. The shower cubicle had a plastic curtain across it as it appeared this was to replace what looked like a missing glass panel. Apart from that it did the job and we have enjoyed our stay.

We appreciated the helpful staff. While weather cannot be controlled, the heat was extreme. Staff provided a fan, but it was not enough as the window did not stay open. Furthermore, our bed broke and we had to pull it apart in order to sleep. We left on the 3rd of 5 nights, causing us to pay for another hotel. Staff did offer to bring in new fans and move us to another room, but we were exhausted with the heat. We needed a good nights sleep.

It was better than I expected, the place is very close to Paddington train station. We arrived early and we were allowed to go to our room as it was already available. Very friendly staff, very clean.

Great location to the train station and Hyde Park. The staff was very friendly and the room was clean. What we didn’t like was the thin walls and our room was under the lobby so we heard all foot traffic and roller bags coming and going. We were also basement level and there was a musty smell. Perfect if you are looking for a no frills stay for a decent price.
