Disliked: Cleanliness, amenities
The room wasn’t bad, and nothing was inherently bad. It was relatively clean.
Although, the bath panel was off, the room smelt damp, there was no hot water, the bath mat was mouldy.
Room was old and tired .no bar available and was not what the website advert offered .was clean and plenty of hot water ..we saw our host once at check in and that took 2 seconds to be handed a key .
Used packet of condoms under bed. Member of staff not very helpful when we asked about food.
We couldn't take food to our room, even though they didn't serve food. No hot water.
Positive part was the comfy bed.

Cheap affordable price. Quiet. Good food especially the Sunday roast.
It is the second time in a couple of weeks that I stayed here. Checking in and out simple and fast. Staff very friendly. I stayed in two different rooms and both were clean and comfortable. Tv and Wi Fi reception also very good. I would go back againg.

Breakfast good. Rooms dated but warm and comfortable. Bar facilities closed at 9.00.
Location near to Llangollen is good but surrounding restaurants were closed so we had to drive into town for a meal as options at the hotel were very limited. Heating on all night in the room and no way of turning it off which made for an uncomfortable nights sleep.
This hotel has a great view (over the ample car park) of hills and forests. The hotel has solar panels and brews beer.
Room 8 was very pleasant; looked recently decorated - somewhat quirky but I prefer that. Breakfast was great; really good scrambled eggs & mushrooms.
From the moment I arrived the staff were friendly and helpful. Location is set back from a country road so it was quiet and close to hills and mountains for walking. A few minutes drive from the main town of Llangollen it was convenient and peaceful. The chef was very helpful and able to meet my needs with small changes to the menus with ease. Room was basic but adequate and clean. Exactly what was needed for a short break.
Beautiful setting. Woke up to the cows mooing. Decor dated and pleasant. Many cobwebs in the room, light shade and ceiling and walls. Warm, cosy and TV available. Tea and coffee in the room. A biscuit or 2 may have been a nice welcome after a long day. Value for money. Pleasant and friendly staff.

Abbey Grange is a tired hotel / B&B, but OK for a short stopover. It is not in Llangollen, the map for the property is incorrect. it is on the road to the Horseshoe Pass. A good 45 min walk to the town. Staff were nice and the food good. Nice green setting fir a quiet stay.

Tired, expensive and terrible shower.
The hotel is in a fantastic and beautiful location. It was a bit tired and the Family room was chintzy. Our shower didn’t get anywhere near warm and the towels were clean but rough. The hotel bar closed at 9:30 on a Friday night. The cost was relatively high but didn’t include a breakfast and was too far outside Llangollen to walk.
Very picturesque, great location and views but very dirty, had to clean the bath before it could be used as was grimy and full of hair, clearly hadn’t even been rinsed. Bed linen was spotless and bed comfy though

The room was clean and warm but dated. The shower was poor due to mixer tap heat control. Overlooked unkempt garden. Only met one staff member who was nice and polite.
Very impressed. Stayed for 1 night with my 8 year old son as a stopover on the way to Snowdonia. By far the cheapest hotel I could find in the local area, so expectations were low. Impressed though at the hotel, friendly staff at check-in, decent rooms and surprisingly comfy bed!
Only downsides - the walls seemed rather thin, the angry man in the next room having an argument with someone on the phone was heard rather clearly(!) and shower lacked much pressure.
But all in all, for a cheap night as a stopover it was perfect.
Thanks!
The hotel is a bit out of town and very peaceful. Lovely view of the hills.
Checkin was friendly and welcoming. Room was rather bland and slightly 1970s, but clean and well kept. Most importantly it was warm a comfortable and I got a good night’s sleep.
The bar closed very early which was a shame as I’d arranged to meet a friend at 9pm but by then all was in darkness.
I would have liked to try the £10 breakfast but had already arranged to eat elsewhere.
All in all, a good value stay in a beautiful location. I’d be very happy to return.
