I actual live in town and always wanted to stay here with my wife and dine here. Super clean room, very chill atmosphere, well decorated and most importantly, a comfortable bed. The staff was incredible and very attentive. But the real shinning star was the Courthouse restaurant, probably one of the best meals I’m going to have this year. Great vibes, great staff and amazing food. 5/5 stars, would highly recommend staying.

I think this hotel would be wonderful in any season...beautiful area to walk on the wide, stately streets with beautiful 1800's home in the summer, spring or fall; lots of beautiful autumn leaves in the fall, perfect New England town with center green in winter, summer, spring and fall, to beautiful spring with flowers all over the town too. At Abner Hotel you can enjoy any season with the great rooftop bar, the cozy fireplace in the lounge outside the restaurant in the winter.... A special attraction for attorneys or anyone interested in the law is the unique nature of this property which was a renovated and preserved old courthouse.... Don't forget the fascinating attraction of country's very first Law School, walking distance from the hotel! Lourdes of Litchfield Grotto, lovely with outdoor masses, stations of the cross, gift shop and Cafe, open to all, just down the road.

The Abner Hotel in Litchfield exceeded all expectations with its impeccable, attentive staff who made every moment feel personal and effortless. I had no idea it was set in a beautifully restored former courthouse—what a charming surprise! The food and cocktails were phenomenal, easily rivaling top restaurants in the city.

The front desk staff was very warm & welcoming. Parking was good. The property has a lot of fun history & architecture -- make sure to read about it in the little room off the lobby. And the town/area is so quaint. My husband had to work, so I sat at the bar by myself for dinner & had a wonderful time. The bartender is amazing. Really good at her craft! Food was great. It might be a challenging hotel & restaurant to navigate if one has mobility issues. There is an elevator, but there are are lot of turns & narrow spaces.

This is a beautiful and unique hotel which has been built into an old courthouse in Litchfield. Rooms have great use of space and decor. Staff went out of their way both at the front desk, restaurant, and bar. Would definitely stay here again.

Great hotel in a great location!!

Well appointed rooms -new hotel. Very clean. Comfortable bed and great shower. Friendly and helpful staff. Great location near shops and restaurants. Rooftop bar and restaurant on premises which stay open late. Would highly recommend.

I was impressed by the historic charm of the hotel. There is even a dedicated room detailing the history of the area, educational significance and courthouse beginnings. The court room restaurant and rooftop bar are definitely worth a visit. The rooms were spacious and clean. We will definitely be back.

Loved our stay at the historic Court House, beautifully restored as the Abner Inn. Service was excellent, dinner was equally fantastic, service was super. Staying in the beautiful village of Litchfield is always a special treat for my wife and I as we love stopping in the Village Pub for a drink and to taking a drive to Lake Waramaug and the beautiful New Preston village. We will be back to the Abner in a few weeks!

Litchfield and the surrounding area is very picturesque and the hotel has converted the local courthouse.The hotel itself is lovely, the staff is superb and location is ideal. Our only issue was we were paying New York hotel prices to view the car park of the local district Post Office. There is a reason that ear plugs are left in the room rather than a coffee maker or TV.

Staff is excellent as is the decor and service both at the hotel, restaurant and rooftop. Not well known but the air conditioning in the room can be very loud and there are no TV’s in the room. The street is very walkable and there are several excellent restaurants within a quick walk or 10 min drive. The breakfast at the hotel was lovely- as was the restaurant. Great long weekend stay!
