Spent the night w the windows open to alleviate the fecal smell and was unable to sleep due to the noise level from outside w the open windows. Arrived in Room 406, the balcony doors were open and we loved the view, but we closed them to use the bathroom, that's when we got smell the sewage problem. We closed the bathroom door to try to get a break in our room, but the door locked us out of the bathroom and our stuff inside the bathroom. The cabinet door doesn't close and the bathroom door clearly has an issue, not to mention the sewer smell. And the shower faucets were hanging out of the wall. There was an oil diffuser behind the toilet to try to mask the smell. This room must be fixed before anyone can sleep here. We were moved to 409, a much better room. The bathroom has been updated and the room is clean. Overall, you get what you pay for here. Breakfast is basic but decent. There are MANY stairs, but a very small elevator up 2 flights of stairs does get your luggage to your room and is a relief after a day of exploring. The bed is hard and you can feel the springs but the bedding is fresh and comfortable. The bath towels are fantastic. Highlights: the view of the Castle are incredible, the location is excellent and the towels are super soft and very large.

Fantastic location and great friendly staff. AC room and could get an iron when needed, lovely clean room with very good quality towels. For the price you wont find better! Staff we came across were great and very helpful. Bathroom was slightly tired but nothing wrong with it and clean. Would stay again :)

I stayed at this property earlier in the week for 3 days in room 409 and had no problems. I returned to Lisbon the night before departure and stayed in Room 406, the entire room reeked of sewage. I alerted the staff, and they agreed to the sewage smell, however, the hotel was full and they were unable to change my room. It was too late to find a different hotel. The only option I was given was to open the windows in order to quench the smell. Needless to say, it was a sleepless night, between the smell and the outside noise due to open window. I reached out to the property during my stay, the morning of my departure, have tried to reach out to them since and have not had a reply yet

Room was clean and housekeeping did a great job, no smell. Bathroom showed a bit of wear but nothing unexpected for this star hotel. Area was fantastic with lots of places to explore. No scary streets and close to a grocery as well.
