Vacations Close To Lincoln County Jail Museum

The inn itself was beautifully kept. The water pressure was great. There was plenty of hot water except very early in the morning (before 6am). I didn’t walk in the area but if I had too, I wouldn’t feel comfortable in the evening. There was parking behind the hotel and I was lucky to get a spot both nights that I was there otherwise you would have to park in their other lot somewhere around the corner. They had lemon water, fruit, cookies, tea and coffee out all the time. The included breakfast was just an easy grab a toasted bagel and go. Nothing special but it was a nice offer. The beds were soft, the AC worked well and our room was very large. Our room was on the second floor, no elevator and extremely steep steps, but staff was always available to help with bags or luggage. Overall, a very nice stay and less expensive than closer to town.

Centrally located in the Old Port, with views of the harbor, this was a last minute — therefore pricey — excellent find for a fall weekend getaway. Stylish, elegant rehab of 19th century granite industrial building. Whimsical decor notes referring to 19th century owner Evalina Fox. Nicely appointed kitchenette — though if you came to Portland for the foodie scene, you might end up just using it for breakfast, as we did. Only sour note was the disco music (coming in via the ventilation system?) from a nearby establishment audible during business hours. Well, if you pick a hotel in the middle of things, you get the noise and bustle that comes from being in the middle of things. That said, we’d come again, but shoot for a penthouse/upper floor unit farther from the street-level mania.

A very nice B&B in Freeport Maine. Very friendly innkeepers. Great home cooked cookies and breakfast.

The staff was friendly, and the room was clean. There is a restaurant on site, and the location is fantastic and close to everything.

The check in process was smooth. I guess I missed the disclaimer about the parking fee. For the price they charge and their location, that fee should be waived (it makes no sense to be charging for parking). I reported that the ironing board in my room was split in half and should have been removed. I was promised a replacement that never came. As a side note, their housekeepers do a terrible job cleaning. My shower curtain had mold on the entire bottom, the TV screen looked like it had never been cleaned and the entire hotel smells like the carpets need to be steam cleaned (someone should come behind the housekeepers to ensure the rooms are cleaned properly). This particular location tarnishes the La Quinta name.
