Léon de Lorière, au Musée St Jean d'Angers, un lusus naturae* simule une tête de bovidé sur laquelle un oeil aurait été rapporté. Fouillé en 1897, par MM d'Achon et de Farcy, un squelette avait été découvert, placé à 6 m du fond, les pieds vers l'entrée. Plus récemment, ce sont des débris de brique romaine et des éclats de silex blond qui ont été trouvés par Michel Gruet (1912-1998).
