“The hotel itself was in a run down condition and needs a lot of money spent on it. My room, had windows into the atrium so my view was of stairs and walls. It also meant there was no airflow, and on this very hot summer, it made it difficult to sleep or be comfortable in any way. The lights in my bathroom did not work, which I mentioned to the staff, and the door self closing mechanism did not have a soft close function so that I was woken each day before 5 am by the slamming of doors. “It has 4 Start rating but unclear why it’s that high. Checking in, staff member didn’t seem particularly interested. Had to prompt guidance on how to get to my room. Dinner was fine. Nothing spectacular. Breakfast was fine. Rooms are dated, bed was way too soft. Probably old. All just pretty average and not 4 star.”

“We stayed at Old Posting Inn for 2 nights as wanted to explore the lake District area. We wanted a quiet, quaint village as our base, and the Inn was perfect for our needs. The dinner was excellent and the hosts were lovely. The location itself is15 mins from Cockermouth town centre, 30-40 mins from Kewsick, and 45 mins from Buttermere. All in all, it was a perfect holiday for us, and we will come again!”

“Friendly welcome on arrival . room was relatively small but well equipped and clen. Bed was comfortable. Dinner in the evening was excellent and all bar prices were very reasonable. while there was some ongoing construction in the hotel grounds, there was still the ability to take a short stroll around the grounds. Definitely worthy of a short stay.”
