Getting into our room was not a smooth process - the code # given for our room did not match what was on the check-in screen upon arrival, we had to go up to the restaurant to get an updated code. The restaurant was very good (a bit pricey but very delicious) The room was OK, a little dated and the mattress was VERY HARD! All 3 of us had difficulty sleeping. Location is great!

The Hungry Trout Resort is a classic place to stay if you are interested in fishing the Ausable River. Very convenient with private access to the river. The fly shop on premises is excellent with great guides! The Pub was great in years past but is closed now. I really hope it reopens. The upscale restaurant is very nice with great views of the falls. Overall a solid place to stay without the hustle of staying in Lake Placid but close enough to go there for dinner.

We were there just before summer season started. So the pool and grounds weren't quite ready. But the room was neat and clean. The staff busy, but helpful. We would definitely return. It was a perfect spot for high peakers!

A/C was a little loud and the room a bit outdated. But the room was clean and comfortable and the bathroom newly redone. Parking was great although the lot could use some resurfacing. All in all, a good value. By the way, the Keurig coffee maker did not work, but the was one in the office which was great. The place is unmanned but even without staff, there is some one reachable by phone or email so that was not a concern.

Thank goodness for Kay, she was wonderful. She greeted you. She told us of some restaurants to go to. But please read, we wanted to go somewhere that was family owned, but this backfired on us, the place needs a new coat of paint but worse, our room had multiple stains in the carpet. We could not use the overhead fan because it made too much noise and read the fine print. The housekeeper will not come until you leave. We emailed the facility and they did come the following day. No one is on staff at night. Kay made the place but we would never stay here again.
