Central to La Maddalena town and across the street from the ferries make this a very accessible location. Also very near to a bus stop if you don't have a car and want to get to beaches. We found free parking on the streets pretty easily (one day we had to circle around). The breakfast was good and we liked access to the 2nd floor terrace and rooftop terrace. The "walkable" beaches are tiny and pretty crowded, so you'll want to drive or bus or rent something to get around.

Hotel Excelsior is all about the location. It’s right in the centre of La Maddalena, with an amazing waterfront position where you can sit and watch the ferries come and go. I booked a sea view room, which was definitely worth it and easily the highlight of the stay. The rooms are on the small side but were clean and comfortable, and the air conditioning was excellent, which made a big difference during the warmer weather. Breakfast was decent without being anything special, but again, the incredible view makes it a much more enjoyable experience. One thing to be aware of is that the hotel does not have its own parking, despite what you might expect. All parking is on the street, so don’t arrive assuming there’s private parking available. Overall, it’s a solid choice if you want to be in the heart of town with fantastic views, great air conditioning, and easy access to everything La Maddalena has to offer.

Perfect location right near the ferry. Plenty of parking. The staff were so pleasant and very helpful. The hotel is at the edge of town, with restaurants and shops right there. I would definitely recommend this hotel if staying on the island.

Everything went very well overall. The only issue I had was that you had to find street parking, but it worked out in the sense that it was free and usually you could find a spot close to the hotel. The employee at the front desk was super helpful. Our room was really nice and comfortable. Did not know it was right in front of the ferries, so that part was louder than I thought but overall it was such a beautiful room, we were ok with it. Ear plugs did help:). A exceptional breakfast out on the terrace was a nice touch!

Great hotel right in front of the harbour where the ferries to/from Palau come and go every 20 mins or so. Staff was kind and helpful and our room was spotlessly clean and equipped with everything we needed. Many bars and restaurants nearby. Somewhat unlucky that a rare occurrence for Sardinia (intense rain in April) caused the breakfast room to be affected by water leaking from the top and a breakfast experience less pleasant than it could have been. Would suggest the hotel to accelerate remedial works asap so that it doesn't happen again.

First and foremost, a huge thank you to Maria-Louisa, Mirianna, Roberto, and all other staff we connected with for such a pleasant stay! Your hospitality and such positive attitude was everything we needed to make this one of our bests stays. The hotel rooms and common spaces are clean and functional. The breakfast had many options and the hotel location is prime being very close to the ferries, taxi stand, restaurants, and even the bike rental shop. You can’t go wrong for booking here

Convenient location near the port but no Parking at the hotel and very limited parking near by. Staff were outstanding. When we left a cell phone in our room they were quick to give us a call to make sure we could go back and pick it up.
