Beautiful view of the volcano through big room windows. The rest is basic no frills. The breakfast was great! We also took advantage of the massages available right in your room for a reasonable price.

View was excellent!!! The property was beautiful. Pool was closed but we weren't told that, so we hiked over there and had to hike back. Otherwise it was a great time

We really enjoyed our stay here! We stayed 4 nights, and our stay was so peaceful and beautiful with a view of the volcano! We had an issue with bugs in our room, I assume this was due to a small crack in the wood boards of the walls. The staff is so friendly, and they were so helpful and explained the area too. My only other complaint was that they ask you what time you want to have breakfast each day, but you have to check in and then wait 15 minutes for them to get it to you, so just be prepared to wait a bit. Overall we loved it and would stay here again!

Very basic room which had seen better days. Nowhere to hang anything - a problem when it is wet! Good shower and comfortable beds. Breakfast was ok and staff were helpful. Great location to get around the Arenal volcano area and get into La Fortuna town.

We were there 3 nights and several times we requested the room to be cleaned and it never was, which is especially important due to the requirement to put toilet paper in the bin. Our toilet was not working properly and they never fixed it. The walls are very thin and neighbors and the road were noisy.

I had to cancel my reservation and Arenal Roca Lodge would not honor their cancellation policy. They refused to reimburse me for any amount of money, telling me that my booking was non-refundable. This conflicts directly with the Expedia travel confirmation email I received immediately after making this booking on Expedia.

Pro: Absolutely stunning view of the volcano. Best view I ever had from a hotel. The view itself is worth the trip to Costa Rica. The property is also surrounded by a small pond where we saw many birds. Con: Ants in the room. It is unavoidable to be in true nature like this. Pro for some people and con for others: Birds jumping and moving and chirping on the wooden roof was very noticeable from inside. I like it a lot but some might find it distracting.

Here's a balanced and detailed review based on your feedback: Title: Great Staff & Views, But Rooms Need Serious Improvement I had a mixed experience at this hotel. On the positive side, the staff was incredibly kind and helpful, always ready to assist with any requests. The view from the room was fantastic, and the breakfast was a highlight—great selection and quality. However, the condition of the room was disappointing. It felt very old and poorly maintained. The shower was not clean, and there was no closet or drawers for storing suitcases or clothes. There wasn’t even a single hook in the entire unit to hang towels or clothing. The bathroom had no counter space, and the sink was outdated. The bed was uncomfortable, with insufficient pillows, and the lighting was poor—just one white ceiling light that made the room feel cold and unwelcoming. Overall, while the service and views were great, the hotel needs serious updates to make the rooms more functional and comfortable.

HONEST REVIEW‼️ My two best friends and I, all aged 20 and 21, stayed here for two nights and have nothing but good things to say about this place. We were skeptical about booking this place due to it having a lower number of reviews than other places, but we hit the JACKPOT!! It was very close to the free hot springs, and only a short drive into town! The property was beautiful and you could see the volcano from every bungalow! The air conditioning cooled the entire place very quickly, and the free breakfast was INCREDIBLE!! The staff were very accommodating and also are available to help book adventures and such! They even have some discounted tickets to some places. The pool was being cleaned during our stay, so we did not get to use it, but we didnt even need to! There is a free swimming hole close to town with rope swings and small cliff jumps that is worth checking out! If you are looking for something affordable, convenient, and non-resort, look no further than Arenal Roca Lodge! We wish we stayed longer! Nothing but amazing things to say about this place. Will be coming back!

We had high hopes for our stay at Arenal Roca Lodge, but unfortunately, our experience was extremely disappointing and concerning from the moment we arrived. Within just two hours of checking in, our room was overtaken by a swarm of large flying ants, especially in the bathroom, rendering it completely unusable. We initially tried to remain optimistic despite spotting lizards and other bugs in the room. However, the situation became unacceptable when one of us was bitten by a gecko. We reported the issue to the front desk right away, and a maintenance worker was sent to remove a large number of insects—confirming just how uninhabitable the room had become. We felt unsafe and extremely uncomfortable, and ultimately had to leave and find alternative accommodations that same night, paying out of pocket. The conditions were clearly unsuitable for guests, and we’ve since requested a full refund directly from the property. This was a deeply disappointing experience, and we hope the lodge takes serious steps to improve the safety and cleanliness of their rooms going forward.

The team is fantastic, well educated, always ready to assist with a smile. The facilities needs some repairs and upgrades for sure. It does not reflect the price at all. They were kept clean at all times, which is really appreciated. Loved the breakfast and we wouldn’t mind having a social area where guests could share the stories of the day.
