Very old property. Rooms are dated. Convenient if you must be close to the train station, otherwise you would be better off looking elsewhere in Kyoto as there are much better options available.

Extremely convenient location right across from Kyoto Station. Staying here made it easy to access the different areas of Kyoto. The staff were excellent, checking in/out was easy and efficient, and the hotel room was fairly spacious for 4 people, compared to Tokyo. A few things that could be improved on: - cleanliness: the room seemed a little dusty overall - room key: they only provided 1 even though we were a group of 4 which was a little inconvenient. They said a lot of guests lose the room keys and that was why they only provide each group with just 1 key. - beds: each bed felt like it had a different degree of firmness. The 4th bed was actually very uncomfortable compared to the other 3 (quite hard and feels like you could feel the springs a little) Overall I would stay here again, but hope they make some improvements!

My recent stay at New Hankyu Hotel Kyoto left much to be desired. While the hotel boasts an excellent location, the outdated facilities and lack of basic amenities made for a disappointing experience. The hotel itself felt like a relic from a bygone era, with its outdated decor and furnishings. The sink in my room had noticeable scratches and appeared unclean, with what seemed to be remnants of men's shaving mess—a detail that was quite off-putting. To make matters worse, there was no air conditioning in the room, and attempting to open the window proved to be a challenge. Despite the efforts of the hotel staff, it took nearly 10 minutes to open the window, raising concerns about fire safety. Moreover, the room had an unpleasant odor, adding to the discomfort of the stay. The only redeeming aspect of the hotel was its location, which was convenient for exploring the area. Overall, if you have a penchant for Showa Retro charm, this hotel might appeal to you. However, for those seeking modern comforts and cleanliness, I would not recommend it. Personally, this experience has left me hesitant to return.

It was okay but I don’t think we stayed a room which I reserved, I came back after dinner, around 9pm, so if I checked in at 3:00, probably we were able to stay a little larger room with Tatami mat space. I recommend check in at 3:00 pm! Other than that, great location, city bus terminal, train and subways station nearby.
