Nice hotel within easy walk of Ao Nang beach. It’s on the main street leading to the beach so near lots of restaurants, bars and shops but still pretty quiet (even the rooms on the road). There are 2 nice pools and great views from the deluxe rooms in the main building. Staff were friendly and helpful. Rooms are really good size and clean

The room was lovely and the staff were very friendly. The hotel is located on top of a hill but very close to all attractions in Al Nang. A lot of restaurants nearby. The pool was very lovely. The hallway smelled a bit musty but it was so humid in Ao Nang so likely the cause. The room was clean and nice.

Modern, clean and convenient location.

Enjoyed our stay as family of 4. Slightly pokey for our size in terms of places for suitcases etc. we knew this before booking. Really enjoyed how modern and clean the hotel was. Staff were helpful. Pool was accessible and kids enjoyed it.

Interesting property. There seems to be a place where there was a lobby but it was empty. Our bathroom door was a sliding door with large gaps so we could see into the bathroom from outside the bathroom, which was odd. But it was very clean, comfortable, and the pool was lovely

First visit to Ao Nang

We had a very enjoyable stay at Sugar Marina. Room was great except for a moldy smell that exists. The staff were excellent and the breakfast was great. Although everything was done to solve the mold smell issue (moved to the room next door) the smell was the same. I would definitely stay at this hotel again.

The hotel is carved onto the side of a cliff with the theme throughout hotel of rock climbing. Unique! Good breakfast with cook to fix eggs at your request. We had a room that had a view of street life and huge rock mountain range. Good restaurants/bars nearby. Our room had a tub on outside deck that we could not use as water faucets were not working. Shower room modern and clean.

Adequate

This hotel has 2 buildings with reception at the higher one. While we waited for a room I have used the reception area bathroom. The bathrooms were repulsive. The reception area clerk waited till 3 pm ( their check in time) to provide us with room keys even though they were available in our folder. This is not a standard for Thailand. Our room was to be King size bed however we were given 2 double beds which means absolutely no room for your suitcases or to walk around your bed. The buffet breakfast was adequate but the breakfast are was run down and not cleaned for some time. While it was OK to stay for 2 nights I would not come back again .

Good value for money, convenient location

Pros: - good location: located on the main road, about a ten minute walk from the beach. Far enough away from the hustle and bustle of the beach but still walkable. - hotel looked like it was fairly new and the rooms were modern - two free bottles of water per day, good WiFi Cons: - bathroom was SUPER dark. I have never been in a bathroom that felt like a cave before. - we booked the cheapest room (cliff view) but it was facing the busy street which was loud. Technically there was a cliff that we could see, but I would have preferred a quieter room. I thought cliff view would be quiet haha. - located on a very steep hill, if you have any mobility issues this is not a good hotel choice for you

Had the one bedroom unit. Never again. The bathtub is on the balcony and while it has plumbing, can NOT be used. This is same for the other unit in this category. This is NOT a jetted tub. They use the word “jetted” as in dry docked. On the balcony as decoration. Staff member dropped my duty free bag upon arrival breaking an expensive item. Barely an apology.

Disappointed

Hotels should be obliged to tell potential guests that there is another hotel being built alongside. The 12 hour a day banging was ridiculous, and on top of that the construction site overlooks the pool area and offers little privacy from workers on the site. The breakfast was disappointing after reading good reviews, the coffee was tasteless and the food was cold the heating plates were mostly unplugged. The pool access room did not have a pool ladder and guests from non pool access rooms were occupying the area, the children could not access the pool safely. No guard on the property in the evening. The bar was closed and breakfast was served in another building accessed by two elevators and stairs. On the plus side the beds were large and comfortable, the staff were few but pleasant.
