Obviously when you stay in National Parks, most of the time your lodging options are limited and your expectations need to be realistic, however I do not feel as though this hotel is worth the $300/night price tag as the rooms were very basic and the shower head was only 5 feet off the ground which meant you had to perform yoga moves to rinse your hair and face (and I am only 5'10). The local food options were also grossly overpriced ($25 for a chicken sandwich with potato chips as the side). Prior to staying here I stayed at the Wuksachi Lodge in Sequoia National Park and it was a significantly better venue and experience.

Great cozy place to stay.

The John Muir lodge was a great place for our family. The room was clean, the food at the restaurant was really good and the staff were incredibly helpful and nice! We would DEFINITELY stay here again!

This was a great way to see both National Parks in a timely and convenient way. We went in May, so the rooms not having air conditioning was fine. The restaurant wasn’t running at normal hours, so that was a bit frustrating, but we navigated it and overall enjoyed our stay.

Close to Panoramic Point Overlook and General Grant Tree. Nice staff and clean room. Need to walk to Grant Grove Village for breakfast, though. Overall, highly recommended.

John Muir Lodge is great for those wanting a basic inside-the-park experience. The rocking chairs on the porches were delightful! Our two queen room was nice and clean and included a small fridge. The only dining in the area is the park run concession which is pricey and not very good. Convenience of having a nice place to sleep close to the sights is worth it though since it is a long drive to just about any of the other available lodging.

Wonderful location!!

Perfect location on the edge of King’s Canyon National Park. Next to a store, visitor center and restaurant. Very clean. Excellent staff. Lovely porch with rocking chairs. Highly recommend!!

Friendly Staff, decent rooms. Except the shower was really short. Loved the location. Loved the rocking chairs on the decks. Would have liked a few more microwaves in the main area. But the service at the Grant Grove village was super slow and they were way under staffed! However, we Definitely will come back again! But with more of our own food!

Very convenient being in Kings Canyon National Park. The rooms were quite dated & loud. Room 102 should be turned into the housekeeping closet since it is right under the stairs & you can hear every step. The restaurant didn’t have a lot of options & was slow but it was something. There is a microwave & coffee in the lobby so that was helpful.

We weren’t expecting luxury, we booked here as it’s one of only a couple of options in the Kings Canyon national park. The room and hotel were fine - not brilliantly clean, a bit shabby, and basic facilities - but acceptable for a one night stay if you’re not too fussy. What was really disappointing is that the on-site restaurant (the only place to eat within a 30 minute drive) was experiencing a ‘boil water’ order and operating on a reduced menu. This wasn’t communicated to us at any point before we arrived (which is a real shame as we could have cancelled our booking). We later found the information on the website which explained there was a reduced menu. We had no choice but to eat there and when we arrived the service was bad, and the only choices on the menu were 3 types of pizza or a chicken wrap. There was only fruit juice - no tea, coffee, sodas, or alcohol was available. We had one pizza and a chicken wrap which were pretty terrible. By around 4.30am the next morning I was very sick and continued to be ill for the next 48 hours. Really disappointed in the communication, service, and facilities. We will definitely not be back!

John Muir lodge is the only place where to spend the night outside the north part of Sequoia Park. Very basic lodge for the price. Limited water pressure in shower. Clean and large room. No A/C only heater. Coffee in the room but no breakfast at the lodge. The restaurant is 5 min walk from there to offer basic lunch, diner and breakfast.
