“Incredible stay at Basalt Retreat! We enjoyed a cozy and luxurious evening the beautiful vineyard, made even more lovely by the complimentary bottle of prosecco and warm hot cocoa. The space itself is gorgeous and so well appointed—from the fascinating books to the gorgeously-scented bath products. Breakfast was delicious: an exquisite croissant loaf with butter and fig jam, plus yogurt and muesli, all made by local purveyors. If you have time, make sure to get lunch at the lovely restaurant....

“Beautiful apartment in a stunning period building. Well located for the local restaurants and bars. Note that the apartment suites upstairs require being able to negotiate a steep narrow set of stairs. Not an issue for most but might be for some.”

“Great location and the staff are wonderful. However, the room wasn’t clean. We had dishes in the dishwasher - left from previous guests. Also we found food from previous guests in the sofa… The beds were really hard and not what we expected, given the price point.”
