“The property was in a fairytale house in a magical location. All the little extra touches - such as bathrobes and slippers. daily complimentary water, chocolate etc - were truly the icing on the cake. The staff showed a real pride in working at the Castle and truly helped to set the atmosphere. Check-in and out were brilliant. The restaurant was superb with a jaw-dropping view of the Castle and sumptuous breakfast. If you think I seem enthusiastic it is because I am!”

“Advertised as an apartment with breakfast included. But in reality is a chalet bedroom and ensuite. Breakfast was 2 mini yogurts in the fridge, a couple of tiny croissants and cereals. Beverages are DIY. Check in is via a member of staff behind the bar in the pub. Unresponsive to phone calls with the number provided prior to the stay where I attempted to know if there was possibility of an earlier check-in but since not being able to get through I had to check-in at the standard 3pm. “Nice and private”

“The Bat and Ball is a 6 bedroom B&B in a former Pub opposite the Spitfire Cricket ground. It has a small car park and narrow staircase to the rooms. The downstairs has a lounge area with guests' fridge, complimentary coffee machine and industrial microwave. Although you are not allowed to eat in the rooms, the breakfast room is available for use all day and evening. We used our own picnic set. Continental breakfast is included in the room rate. The television in our room buffered a few times...

“We enjoyed our stay, the staff were friendly and welcoming. The breakfast was very good and the sausages and bacon excellent. The views were amazing and the location was perfect. The complementary cheese and biscuits during happy hour was a really nice touch. Unfortunately the decorative condition of our room let the hotel down as did the condition of the shared areas, such a shame.”
