This place is fantastic.... It feels like a fairytale, and since there's not that many rooms, it feels like you have the place to yourself. Absolutely beautiful grounds to explore, and the rooms feel very luxurious. Super comfy bedding too! Oh, and an amazing breakfast!
Perhaps the best hotel I stayed in this year. Full of atmosphere and yet very informal. Fantastic view over the Rhein. Large nice rooms. Excellent bed. Fantastic breakfast in the Knigths room
Highlight of our roadtrip through Germany. We were virtually given the run of this 900 year old castle. Baronial dining hall, oak-panelled library, candle-lit patio overlooking the river and town, beatiful gardens, vineyard walking path, friendly and helpful staff. A privilege to have had this experience.
This was a very unique experience, one that we absolutely loved. Obviously being an 800 year old medieval castle automatically creates an experience you won’t find at other hotels. No A/C so hot summer nights could be a slight issue but I can’t understate what a neat place this is.
The hotel, amenities & breakfast was superb. Better than 5 star! We had 4 nights to wander this medieval castle with no crowds, amazing views, beautiful courtyards, amazing library with spectacular grand piano. Room was very well appointed and sparkling clean. The views over the Rhine and the eagles & falcons were spectacular. The Gutenfels wine was absolutely amazing and I wish I could have it in Canada. We are truly spoiled for any other hotel now.
Amazing property and so little traffic it feels like it's yours. An experience so different then just walking through a castle. Save time to explore the grounds and open all the doors and gates that you can. It's always amazing what's on the other side.
This medieval castle just became my absolute favorite place I have ever stayed. Our family literally felt like royalty. If you love adventure, history or romance, put this place on your bucket list. We did 1 overnight on our way from Paris to Switzerland, and it was not enough. We loved exploring the castle grounds, and the breakfast was delicious. The views of the Rhine are incredible. The manager and his daughter were so friendly.
We booked this boutique hotel on a whim for one night and immediately upon arrival wished to stay longer. It is BEAUTIFUL! Only five rooms and a whole castle to explore. Nicely decorated rooms with modern bathrooms, fantastic breakfast, functioning Wi-Fi and a view over the Rhine valley to die for. There is an elevator but to fully appreciate the property we would not recommend this hotel if you are using a walker or wheelchair. Water bottles in the rooms at no charge. This is a property that will provide you with a truly unique boutique hotel experience. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We will be back for sure! Loved every minute of our stay at Burg Gutenfels.
Great little hidden gems, comes with a lovely sundeck and huge courtyard overlooking the river Rhine, can't beat the view. You also get to wonder around the breakfast room and the lounge for a drink at night. Room is comfortable and cozy, doesn't hurt that the manager speaks perfect English, which is a pros for foreign guest like myself. Downside is wifi reception isn't the best.... Booked for 2 nights, ended up staying for 4.
