Beware non-Muslim guests! This is a dry hotel, and apparently consumption of alcohol is prohibited anywhere on the property. This was not disclosed prior, which is unacceptable!
We were a couple staying one night only. We had the suite with a balcony on the 3rd floor. Booked through Expedia. The room is spacious and well presented. Good view over the river. Breakfast was excellent.
Now for the bad: we were told as going up to our room in the lift juggling beer and wine bottles that consumption of alcohol was completely prohibited anywhere in the hotel as the owner is Muslim. This hardly seems my problem what the owner’s specific belief’s are. If this is the case, it should be made abundantly clear PRIOR to booking! Needless to say we ignored this.
The shower was blocked and flooded the bathroom. Closing the bathroom door locked the person inside. There was only enough hot water to 1/3 fill the of lovely bath. When I brought up these issues I felt dismissed, so no doubt nothing will be sorted.
Our balcony was accessible to the fire escape which children used to run up and down from the terrace to the restaurant above us on the 4th floor, and could see directly through to our bed. So much noise was coming from the restaurant above (was there a festival function) until at least midnight when I took a sleeping pill to drown it out!
