Small B'nB in a calm area with a nice garden. Don't expect any luxury even though the room rates may allude that. The room was spacious but not necessarily in a good state, the bathroom very simple, water pressure low, warm (not hot) water. People running the hotel are very friendly.
The is obviously a Japanese-Nepali hotel which is reflected in the breakfast: while the Japanese breakfast looked very lavish, the continental one was more of a letdown. The Japanese restaurant next door was great.
Wireless internet worked good.
All in all, you would expect more for USD 80 in Kathmandu.
Nepal is currently have lots of power problems. Even with this huge power problems Hotel Kido was able to have the lights on in the room and the wifi always worked. When the city power is restored everything else in the room works (TV, heater, power for your computer). Hot water was in short supply but I was still able to get the water warm enough to have a quick rinse.
stayed for three nights while visiting the Nepal Scout Association. This hotel is not in the tourist area and that is what I was seeking. There is no dining on site other than breakfast and coffee during the day. Breakfast is very adequate with both a traditional Japanese and European option. While not offering a menu they are very accommodating.
The Kido is only about 20 minutes from the International airport and offers transportation for a fee or they will arrange taxi service. Current circumstances caused by last April's earthquake make gasoline prices very high and therefore transportation prices vary from high to very high for even moderate distances.
