It was awfully packed over the full moon weekend (would not recommend visiting during this period)! This pavilion-like structure at the front Paththirippuwa, or Octagon. It is a symbol of identity in Kandyan Architecture. In the olden days, the king would stand there to address his citizens who were gathered in front of him. The golden roof behind stands over the Buddha tooth relic that this temple is famous for. One of the best

One of the best hotels in Kandy with a good service. The food was a bit simple and they were unable to make several of the cocktails on their menu but combined it was a great 2-night stay!

Hilltop boutique hotel - thoroughly recommender

We stayed for 2 nights at the Kings Pavilion in Kandy. A lovely small hilltop boutique hotel, recently well restored and extended, with attractive gardens and great views. The staff were welcoming and couldn't have been more helpful. We had the Queen's Suite in the garden block which was spacious and comfortable, with all the usual conveniences. We ate the Sri Lankan curry choices from the dinner menu which were excellent and reasonably priced. Breakfast was also good. Transport is essential as the hotel is located away from the town centre. Thoroughly recommended (Small suggestion only - a mirror in the bedroom, as well as bathroom, would be helpful for hair drying)
