It is a symbol of identity in Kandyan Architecture. In the olden days, the king would stand there to address his citizens who were gathered in front of him. The golden roof behind stands over the Buddha tooth relic that this temple is famous for. Not enough rooms

I've paid online for a separate room. Once I arrived I noticed that there is no available room for me. As alternative they bring me to the other guesthouse far away from this place. The new place had broken wi-fi, there was no any infrastructure near the guesthouse. The back way I've been forced to be paid by myself.

Don’t recommend

It wasn’t good. We arrived late to nobody being around. We had to ask for facilities to cook and for the Wi-Fi, which didn’t work very well. The room wasn’t clean, with us finding hairs in the sheets the bathroom constantly smelling. I reckon once, it was brilliant but now it’s rubbish. Not even in a good location.
