I had a beautiful stay in Kandersteg! The main thing I wanted to see there was Lake Oeschinen, and this hotel is a short walk to the cable car that goes up to the lake. After I visited the lake, I took a beautiful hike back down that went straight down to the hotel. Very short walk to the train station as well; getting around was very easy. The room was comfortable and the front desk staff was very nice. Loved my stay here.

Overnight stay for access to hike

Was ok for a one night stay. No AC which isn't that uncommon in Switzerland. Our room was in the older section. Seemed dated and tired. Had to walk through a hallway where they were apparently storing extra mattresses and baby cribs.

Disappointing

This is more like a 3 star hotel than the listed 4 stars. It is tired and faded and seems to cater to too many groups with endless piles of suitcases and napsacks in the foyer. Carpets are worn and look dirty and the decor is a miss mash when it could be beautifully Swiss. It doesn’t seem as if the manager takes pride in this hotel which has the potential to be so special.

This is a beautiful hotel. Our room had been recently updated and had a patio. We were surrounded by mountains. Our room had a view of 4 waterfalls coming through the mountains. The breakfast was delicious. It included specialty coffees and provided for my dietary needs (gluten and dairy intolerant). It has a lovely pool and great amenities. A complimentary bus is provided for visiting surrounding towns.
