The bungalows themselves were modern and pretty. Our stove had take across it so couldn’t use it, and our dining table was dirty as if it’d gotten missed in the cleaning. We were unable to find the pool, and the cafe was never open when we were there - not sure if it’s supposed to be or if only open for group events? It appears to be a retreat for group events also but it was quiet when we were there. Convenient location. Bed was super comfortable. Cute balcony with loungers. Enjoyed our stay overall, though wished we could’ve found the pool. 😉

This is the best accommodation we’ve stayed at in Joshua Tree over the 20 years we’ve been coming here. Clean, comfortable, spacious, private, and in a great location. Close to Joshua Tree NP West Entrance, visitor center and Joshua Tree Saloon (great place to eat and drink). We’ll be back!

Wow. This historic property is really something else. And it is hard to keep up amenities at a place with such rich history. It’s even harder to make changes or additions without losing something. Homestead Modern has succeeded on both of those fronts. Artistic but minimalist room, swanky and cool without being dated, and modern without feeling out of place in the desert. Really enjoyed this stay and attentive the staff, even without anyone being “on site”. Can’t wait to see what they do with the rest of the property. Hope they keep the art installations. And add on and renovate the older cottages. Would definitely recommend the stay, and will do again!!

We had an excellent stay and would gladly return. The location is convenient for exploring the Joshua Tree area, and staying in one of the bungalows made the experience even better. The desert views from the room were beautiful, especially around sunrise and sunset. The room was well equipped with thoughtful amenities. The air conditioning worked very well, which was especially appreciated in the desert heat, and the kitchenware was complete enough to make preparing simple meals easy. The complimentary coffee was a nice touch each morning. The Wi-Fi was reliable throughout our stay, and every interaction with the remote staff was pleasant—they were friendly, responsive, and genuinely helpful whenever we had questions. The only room amenity we felt was missing was an in-room safe, which would have been useful for securing valuables. One point worth mentioning for future guests is that, while the property offers great desert scenery, it is not an ideal place for stargazing. There is enough surrounding light pollution that the night sky is not as dark as some visitors might expect from the Joshua Tree area. Overall, this was a comfortable, well-managed property that exceeded our expectations, and we would happily recommend it to others visiting the area.

The check in process is entirely digital. It’s a little wonky since service around there is spotty and I think having human interaction is just better, But the grounds and living space were absolutely beautiful. Great spot to unwind and watch the stars from their giant hot tub.
