Staff were ALL super helpful, friendly and professional. I felt the staff really represented the hotel well. Check-in was easy and relatively quick. I used the gym and it was extremely clean, in good working order and water and towels were available. The gym is a good size for a hotel gym. The hotel is old and probably well overdue for a drastic renovation but it was clean and quiet. I would definitely stay here again!

The positives: staff were very nice and helpful, the airport shuttle was fast and efficient and the restaurant and its food were good. The negatives: the rooms are in need of renovation. Our bathroom in particular was in rough shape, eg the knobs on both the sink and shower came off when we used them. Fine for one night while waiting for a flight.

I arrived in the morning from an overnight flight and was happy they let me check in early. The shuttle bus running every 15 min was much appreciated. All the staff were very friendly. The food in the restaurant was very good. The only complaint I have is there was no heat in the room. I complained about and someone did check out the heater and said it was working fine. I left in on for a long time and at no point could I feel heat coming from the heater.

We stayed here on an overnight lay over. The accommodations were fine. The staff was ok, neither friendly or unkind. The room was outdated but the bed was extremely comfortable and after traveling over 14 hours was a welcome delight. The food was good but the staff in the dining room was not helpful at all and seemed uninterested in being in a service position. We had a late dinner and breakfast there. The breakfast was more organized and staff more upbeat. The airport shuttle ran on time and the individuals running it were very helpful and friendly.

The Southern Sun O. R. Tambo Hotel was a home away from home for us. We stayed there one day at the beginning of our trip to South Africa and for three days at the end. The hotel staff did everything they could to make us feel welcome. The hotel is very clean and well-appointed. The breakfast is amazing! And the restaurant was excellent for lunch and dinner as well. The best thing about the hotel was the staff -- they helped us with every request with a smile, whether it was large or small. I would definitely stay there again.

Excellent service! Convenient regular shuttle to and from the airport. We had an early flight and couldn't make breakfast so the hotel kindly offered to making us a breakfast parcel which was very very good!
